Drew Lukes, a native of Spring Valley, Wisconsin, serves as the Head of Sports Science for the Duke women's soccer team.
Prior to taking on this role, Lukes led the built out of the sports science data collection and analysis for the volleyball and women's lacrosse within Duke Athletics. Lukes is a residency (University of Wisconsin) and fellowship (Duke University) trained physical therapist and joined the Duke Athletic Medicine staff in 2021.
He is based in the Murray training room which primarily serves the 21 Olympic sports at Duke. He also serves as the course director for the Sports Rehabilitation course within the Duke Doctor of Physical Therapy program.
Lukes earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Minnesota in 2019 and is currently pursuing a Masters in Sports Analytics with an emphasis in sports performance. Lukes has been published in the Journal of Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise in 2020 and continues to pursue research at Duke – with an emphasis on ACL injury prevention.
