Taekyung “Ted” Kim is entering his fourth season with the Duke women’s basketball program and first as Director of Scouting and Analytics. Kim was elevated to his current role in August of 2022 after serving as the team’s video coordinator during his first three seasons.
Kim arrived at Duke after spending the 2018-19 season with the Gonzaga women’s basketball program as the director of analytics. He also served as a graduate assistant for the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons with the Zags.
Over the summer of 2019, Kim was the team analyst for the Korean 3X3 Senior Men’s National Team at the 2019 FIBA 3X3 World Cup, while also serving in the same capacity for the Korean Senior Men’s National Team at the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China.
Kim also spent the summer of 2018 working as the video coordinator for the Korea Women’s Basketball National Team, assisting the program during three summer tournaments: the William Jones Cup, Asian Games and the FIBA World Cup.
Kim was also active in working with the unified national team that included players of both South Korean and North Korean nationality. During the 2018 summer, that program earned a silver medal in the Asian Games.
During his time with the Gonzaga women’s basketball program from 2016-19, Kim helped the Bulldogs to three straight WCC regular-season and two tournament titles in addition to three straight NCAA Tournament appearances.
Prior to his position as graduate assistant with the Bulldogs, Kim coached high school basketball for the 2015-16 season at Dulwich College in Seoul, South Korea. He graduated in 2015 from the University of Illinois with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and earned his master’s in organizational leadership from Gonzaga in 2018. Kim also served in the Republic of Korea Marine Corps from 2009-11.
