During 12 years of his coaching stretch, Jarvis has been an assistant under his father, Mike Jarvis Sr.
Jarvis II began his career in 1992 in the Atlantic 10 Conference at The George Washington University. After a four-year stint with the Colonials, Jarvis II spent the 1996-97 season as the recruiting coordinator at Drexel University. The following year, he rejoined his father’s staff at George Washington.
In 1998, Jarvis II followed his namesake to St. John’s where he was a member of the staff for six seasons. With the Red Storm, Jarvis II compiled scouting reports and aided in the development of game strategies. He was also heavily involved in the recruiting process as well as off-season player development. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Jarvis II acted as a compliance liaison and fundraising assistant.
Jarvis II also spent the summer of 2000 as an assistant coach for the 24/7 U.S. All-Stars. The team traveled in Greece for 10 days and won a three-day tournament there. The following summer, Jarvis II took over the head coaching position for the 24/7 U.S. All-Stars and guided the team to tournament championships in Italy and Greece.
In May 1992, Jarvis II graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications. He was a two-year starter for the basketball team and helped the Terriers to the North Atlantic Conference Tournament championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament in 1988.
