Ashleigh Crutcher joined the Duke football staff in March 2022 and currently serves as the football operations assistant.

Crutcher comes to Durham after a one-year stint as an administrative intern at the Patriot League. While in Bethlehem, Pa., she worked closely with the communications staff to support specific sports throughout the year. She also assisted the administration with league championship operations and logistics.

Prior to joining the Patriot League office, Crutcher spent four years (2017-20) as a health and physical education teacher with Wake County (N.C.) Public School District.

She also worked for five seasons as an assistant coach with Triangle Volleyball Club in Morrisville, N.C. In her role with the club, she conducted practice drills, taught tactics and skills needed to play at an elite level, and assisted athletes with conditioning while helping foster a supportive environment. In 2021, Crutcher served as a summer camp program administrative intern with the club where she assisted in the day-to-day operations of the summer camp programs and clinic. She also oversaw the youth volleyball program and was the onsite contact for parents and campers.

Crutcher began her career in education, first as a teaching assistant and then as a graduate assistant at University of North Carolina at Wilmington. While with the Seahawks, she facilitated physical activities and educational skills for children with disabilities and mentored college students in principles of strength and conditioning, in addition to goal setting and planning of weight and resistance training.Â

Crutcher graduated from the University of Maryland in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology. She was a four-year letterwinner for the Terrapins women’s volleyball team and a two-time All-ACC selection (2012-13) and honorable mention AVCA All-American (2012). She finished her career with 1,342 kills and graduated ranked fifth in Maryland program history.

The Raleigh, N.C. native, also received her master’s degree in teaching, physical education, and health from UNC Wilmington in 2016, before earning a Master of Science degree in sports management from Western Carolina University in 2021. During her one season at UNC Wilmington, Crutcher served as team captain on the Seahawks’ inaugural NCAA beach volleyball team.
