Guest Health & Safety Guidelines

Duke University and Duke University Athletics are committed to promoting a safe environment for all guests. Guests are encouraged to make the right choice for their own safety and the safety of others around them.

Duke will continue to prioritize the health and safety of our extended community. We strongly encourage all individuals to be fully vaccinated before attending events on the Duke University campus and expect all visitors to adhere to university, local, and state guidelines. No proof of vaccination will be required for Athletic Events other than Men’s & Women’s Basketball.

Guidelines are subject to change throughout the season. Please check GoDuke.com/StaySafe for updates leading up to the championship.

Duke University no longer requires masks/face coverings in outdoor congregate settings, including Duke Athletic events in outdoor venues. Individuals are encouraged to carry a mask to wear in the event physical distancing cannot be effectively maintained in an outdoor setting. Please respect anyone who chooses to continue wearing masks as a means to prevent exposure to themselves or loved ones.
As of March 7, 2022, Duke University no longer requires fully vaccinated individuals to wear masks inside most University owned and leased facilities. Masks are still required for all individuals, regardless of vaccination status, for in-person classes, in Duke buses and vans, and in clinical and patient care areas. Masks may still be required in other locations based on specific circumstances. Guests should carry a mask and be prepared to wear it if required while on-campus.
When seating arrangements and space permits, guests are encouraged to distance themselves from other parties as much as practicable.
Stay Home if Feeling Sick. Guests should not attend a game if they have a fever, cough, shortness of breath, new loss/change in taste or smell, or have recently tested positive for COVID-19.
An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is a contagious disease that can lead to severe illness, with individuals over 65 years of age and with underlying medical conditions being especially vulnerable. By attending an athletic event on the campus of Duke University, the individual assumes all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.

Accessibility Information

Please find below a list of disability services currently provided at Morris Williams Stadium. Prior to the championship, please feel free to reach out to our disabilities coordinators at 919-668-6213 to help make arrangements for your visit or if you have any special needs, questions, or concerns regarding our accessibility and accommodations. During the championship, please find the nearest Event Staff member or Duke Game Operations for assistance.

Accessible Parking for Guests with Disabilities – Free parking is available in the Whitford Lot on Whitford Drive (GPS Address: 110 Whitford Drive). An accessible drop-off and pick-up point for guests with disabilities is available on Whitford Drive at the Brandaleone Family North Gate of Morris Williams Stadium. The lot opens at 7:00 AM each day of the championship (Thursday, Friday, Saturday). Please use the following link for a championship parking map.
Accessible Entrances for Guests with Disabilities – all entrances to Morris Williams Stadium are accessible for guests with disabilities. The accessible pedestrian path to the Southwest and South Gates from Frank Bassett Drive & Science Drive Garage is located near the intersection of Frank Bassett Drive and Science Drive.
Seating for Guests with Disabilities - is available on the front row of the stadium bleachers in the southwest corner of Morris Williams. Accessible ramps are located at both ends of the bleachers. All sidewalks around the track are also accessible for viewing of events away from the stadium grandstand.
Accessible Restrooms for Guests with Disabilities – Accessible Men’s and Women’s Restrooms are located on the south end of the Koskinen Stadium concourse immediately adjacent to the South Gate of Morris Williams Stadium. Guests in need of a gender-neutral or family restroom should see the nearest Event Staff member and ask them to contact Duke Game Operations for assistance.
Assistive Listening Devices – are available for guests requesting assistance for stadium PA announcements. Guests should see the nearest Event Staff member and ask them to contact Duke Game Operations for assistance. Duke Game Operations will meet the guest and deliver the device. Guests should return the device to the nearest Event Staff Member upon completion of use.

Admission

The ACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships are free to all guests. No admission will be charged.

Alcohol

It is strictly prohibited to bring alcohol into Morris Williams Stadium. Individuals violating this policy are subject to ejection from the stadium.

Artificial Noisemakers

Per Atlantic Coast Conference policy for championship events, no artificial noisemakers (i.e. cowbells, whistles, clappers, thundersticks, etc.) are permitted inside the stadium.

Assistive Listening Devices

Assistive listening devices are available for guests requesting assistance for stadium PA announcements. Guests should see the nearest Event Staff member and ask them to contact Duke Game Operations for assistance. Duke Game Operations will meet the guest and deliver the device. Guests should return the device to the nearest Event Staff Member upon completion of use.

ATM – Duke Federal Credit Union

A Duke Federal Credit Union ATM is located outside of the Johnson Family Team Store at the Scott Family Athletics Performance Center. The ATM only dispenses cash ($20 increments) and does not take deposits.

Bag Policy

All bags are permitted inside Morris Williams Stadium. All backpacks, duffel bags, and large bags will be inspected by Event Staff at entry to the facility.

For the safety of all in attendance, bags/items are not permitted to be left unattended outside of Morris Williams Stadium. Unattended bags/items found outside the stadium will be dealt with in a manner deemed appropriate by stadium officials, including but not limited to disposal. Duke University, Duke Athletics, and the Atlantic Coast Conference are not responsible for loss of any unattended items.

Banner/Signage Policy

Banners and Signs are permitted inside Morris Williams Stadium; however the Atlantic Coast Conference and Duke Athletics reserves the right to prohibit or require the cessation of any display of a banner or sign that obstructs the view of other fans, obscures stadium signage, can be considered an advertisement, or is determined to be obscene, vulgar, indecent, inappropriate, or derogatory.

Camera Policy

Hand-held still cameras are permitted for personal use only. No cameras are permitted into the stadium with a lens longer than four (4) inches. Video cameras are permitted inside Morris Williams Stadium for track & field competitions for personal use only.

Concessions

Concessions, operated by Trident Provisions, will be located behind to the Morris Williams Stadium grandstand throughout the championship. A great variety of food items and Coca-Cola products will be available. All concessions are cashless.

Conduct

The Atlantic Coast Conference and Duke Athletics expects all guests to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner at all times before, during and after competition. We expect all guests to treat other guests, student-athletes, coaches and officials with courtesy. Please join us in creating a fun, safe, family atmosphere at Morris Williams Stadium by not:

Interfering with other guests’ ability to enjoy the game;
Using/displaying foul or abusive language or gestures;
Appearing to be intoxicated or in a diminished capacity;
Entering the competition area or restricted access areas;
Smoking or using tobacco products on-campus;
Throwing objects onto the competition area or within the stadium; or
Otherwise being disorderly.

Guests should contact a stadium staff member if they feel someone is not acting appropriately. Violators are subject to ejection and possible arrest. For assistance during the championship,

Emergency Preparedness

During any emergency inside the stadium, please follow the directions of the PA announcer, Event Staff, and first responders.
Always designate a pre-determined location both inside and outside the stadium to meet friends and family in case you get separated in the event of an emergency.
Upon arriving at your seat location, first find the nearest exit and then locate an alternate exit in case of emergency. Exit gates for the stadium are located at:
- Brandaleone Family North Gate – located on Whitford Drive
- Northwest Gate – located on Whitford Drive behind the High Jump & Javelin competition areas
- Southwest Gate – located above Frank Bassett Drive immediately behind the stadium bleachers
- South Gate – located above Frank Bassett Drive near the secondary 100m / 110m start next to the stadium video board
- All exits are accessible for guests with disabilities.
Monitor the weather prior to the meet. Take the necessary precautions to protect your family and friends in the event of heat or severe weather (lightning, rain, etc.) before, during, or after competition.
In the event of inclement weather that suspends competition, please be prepared to evacuate the stadium and return to your vehicle.
See Something, Say Something – If you see or become aware of any activity that is unusual, suspicious or causes you concern, report the activity to the nearest police officer or Event Staff.
Emergency vehicles may be present in and around Morris Williams Stadium and Koskinen Stadium during competition. Please do not obstruct the path of travel of a fire truck, ambulance, or other emergency vehicle or interfere with their operations. Vehicles or objects (tents, tables, tailgate games, etc.) blocking emergency vehicles, designated fire lanes, stadium exits or exit paths, or vehicle/pedestrian traffic in general will be removed and dealt with in a manner deemed appropriate by stadium officials. Vehicles are subject to being towed at the owner's expense.

Emotional Support Animals

Therapy dogs, emotional support dogs, and companion dogs are not Service Animals as defined by the ADA and are not permitted inside Morris Williams Stadium during competition.

First Aid / Emergency Medical Assistance

For first aid and emergency medical assistance, please visit the designated First Aid location on the north end of Kennedy Tower inside Morris Williams Stadium. In case of emergency, contact the nearest Event Staff member, call Duke Police at 919-684-2444 or call 9-1-1 to reach Durham Police.

Food and Beverage

Outside food and non-alcoholic beverages are permitted inside Morris Williams Stadium. All coolers will be inspected by Event Staff at entry.

Gates

Gates to Morris Williams Stadium will open (60) minutes prior to the first event each day of the championship on Thursday (9:30 AM), Friday (10:00 AM), and Saturday (10:00 AM).

There are three (3) gates to Morris Williams Stadium. All gates are accessible for guests with disabilities.

Brandaleone Family North Gate – located on Whitford Drive
South Gate and Southwest Gates – located off of Frank Bassett Drive. All gates are accessible for guests with disabilities.

All personal items are subject to inspection prior to entering the stadium.

Lost and Found

If any article is lost or found in the stadium, please inquire about or report the item to the nearest Event Staff member. Items turned in during the championship will be delivered to Duke Game Operations at Volunteer Check-In in the Meet Operations Tent next to Kennedy Tower. All lost and found items will be available for pick-up throughout the championship.

All lost and found items not picked up prior to the end of the competition will be available for pick-up by contacting Duke Game Operations. Please call (919) 668-5658 or email duaa-gameops@duke.edu to inquire about lost items. Unclaimed lost and found items will be retained for thirty (30) days following the event. After that time, any unclaimed items will be discarded.

Media Operations & Media Will Call

All media and photographers should contact the Atlantic Coast Conference or Duke Athletics Communications prior to the championship for credentials.

Media Will Call for the ACC Outdoor Track Field Championships will be located at the Kennedy Tower entry lobby on the east side of the track. Media Will Call will open (90) minutes prior to the start of the first event each day of the championship on Thursday (9:00 AM), Friday (9:30 AM), Saturday (9:30 AM).

Merchandise

Official ACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships merchandise will be sold at the merchandise tent located inside the South Gate of Morris Williams Stadium.

Parking Information

Championship Parking Map

Parking Hours – all parking lots open at 7:00 AM each day of competition during the championship.
Team Parking
- Unloading/Loading Zone – An unloading/loading zone will be provided on Frank Bassett Drive (GPS Address: 147 Frank Bassett Drive) outside Morris Williams Stadium. Parking attendants will direct teams upon arrival and organize staging.
- Team Bus Shuttle Exit – Team buses shuttling student-athletes should use the Grounds Lot to exit onto NC 751/Cameron Blvd. No turn-around is needed.
- Team Buses & Vans Parking – Team buses remaining on-site and team van parking will be will park in the Grounds Lot (GPS Address: 110 Frank Bassett Drive). All entry from the lot is via Frank Bassett Drive. All exit from the lot is via NC 751/ Cameron Blvd.
General Public Parking is available free of charge for the championship.
- Accessible Parking for Guests with Disabilities – is available in the Whitford Lot on Whitford Drive (GPS Address: 110 Whitford Drive). General Public Garage Parking - is available in Science Drive Garage (GPS Address: 3100 Cameron Blvd.) located on NC 751/Cameron Blvd. All entry/exit from Science Drive Garage is from NC 751/Cameron Blvd. There is no charge to park. Tailgating is permitted in the greenspaces in front of the garage. There is no tailgating permitted inside the garage (including the roof) – this will be strictly enforced throughout the championship.
Parking Disclaimer – Duke University and the Atlantic Coast Conference assumes no responsibility for loss through fire, theft, collision, or otherwise to the car or contents. Vehicles are parked at Owner's Risk. Please lock your vehicle.
Parking Emergency Information – In case of emergency please 919-684-2444 for Duke Police Emergency Dispatch or dial 9-1-1 for Durham County. Duke Police will be the primary responder on-campus for emergency calls. Durham Police will be the primary responder off-campus for emergency calls. If an emergency occurs and authorities are contacted, please designate someone in your party to help direct emergency personnel to the emergency location.
Tailgating – Tailgating is permitted in surface lots only and the greenspaces in front of Science Drive Garage. There is no tailgating inside Science Drive Garage (including the roof).
- Tents, tables, tarps and canopies are NOT permitted if they extend into additional parking spaces or if they impede foot or vehicular traffic.
- All federal, state and local laws, statutes, and ordinances apply, including those regarding the possession, dispensing, and use of alcoholic beverages.
- Please bag and place all trash and recycling in the appropriate receptacle prior to departure from the parking lots. Please properly extinguish and dispose of any charcoal and other flammables. DO NOT THROW AWAY charcoal or other flammables in parking lot trash cans or leave them in the parking lots or surrounding wooded areas.

Personal Pets

Personal Pets are not permitted inside Morris Williams Stadium during competition.

Exception: Service Animals assisting guests with disabilities and Service Animals in Training.
Note: Therapy dogs, emotional support dogs, and companion dogs are not Service Animals as defined by the ADA and are not permitted inside Morris Williams Stadium.

Prohibited Items

For the safety and game day experience of all guests, the following items are prohibited from entering Morris Williams Stadium:

All Drones and Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) – https://drones.duke.edu/policies

Items obstructing sightlines of other guests (umbrellas may not be raised in the seating bowl)
Laser Pointers
Pets (except service animals)
Selfie Sticks
Shoes with wheels (wheelies)
Weapons (including pocket knives)

Duke University and the Atlantic Coast Conference reserves the right to deny anyone or anything from entering the stadium. Any prohibited items should be returned to your vehicle and/or discarded. All guests and items brought into the stadium are subject to inspection prior to entry.

Restrooms

Men’s and Women’s Restrooms are located on the Koskinen Stadium concourse immediately adjacent to the South Gate of Morris Williams Stadium. All restrooms are accessible for guests with disabilities. Guests in need of a gender-neutral or family restroom should see the nearest Event Staff member and ask them to contact Duke Game Operations for assistance.

Seating Areas

Bleacher seating is located in the southwest corner of Morris Williams Stadium. Outside chairs (lounge chairs, folding chairs, etc.) are permitted in the grass areas on the east and west sides of the track. Chairs are not permitted to block track entry gates or stadium walkways.

Seating for guests with disabilities is available on the front row of the stadium bleachers in the southwest corner of Morris Williams Stadium. Accessible ramps are located at both ends of the bleachers. All sidewalks around the track are accessible for viewing of other events away from the grandstand.

Service Animals

Duke University Athletics welcomes trained Service Animals to Morris Williams Stadium. A Service Animal is a dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other mental disability. A Service Animal must be under the control of the handler at all times. A Service Animal must be leashed or tethered unless doing so would interfere with the task that it was trained to perform for the individual with a disability. A Service Animal must not show aggression toward people or other animals. A Service Animal does not bark, growl, or whine unless trained to do so as a warning sign to the handler. A Service Animal does not solicit foot or other items from the general public. A Service Animal’s work does not disrupt the normal course of business. Service Animals should wear current rabies vaccination tags at all times or provide proof of vaccination upon request. If a Service Animal is found in violation of these guidelines, the Service Animal will be excluded from the facility.

Service Animals in Training

In North Carolina, Service Animals in Training have the same access rights as people with disabilities using a Service Animal. The Service Animal in Training must wear a collar and leash, harness or cape that identifies it as a Service Animal in Training. Service Animals in Training should wear current rabies vaccination tags at all times or provide proof of vaccination upon request. The trainer is liable for any damage caused by the animal while on Duke University property. Service Animals in Training must be under the control of the handler at all times, must be housebroken, and must follow all behavior guidelines established for fully trained Service Animals. If the Service Animal in Training is found in violation of these guidelines, the Service Animal in Training will be excluded from the facility.

Severe Weather Preparedness

The Atlantic Coast Conference and Duke Game Operations will monitor the weather leading up to and throughout the championship.

If a storm producing severe weather will come within fifteen (15) miles of Morris Williams Stadium, the PA Announcer will make an announcement to notify guests of the presence of severe weather (including lightning) and will notify guests that they may leave and re-enter the stadium later if they wish to seek shelter.

A mandatory evacuation of Morris Williams Stadium will occur if a storm producing severe weather (including lightning) will come within an eight (8) mile radius of the venue. In the event of a mandatory evacuation, the PA Announcer will direct all guests to evacuate the stadium and seek shelter immediately. In a severe weather evacuation scenario, meet participants and guests will not be permitted to remain under tents or other temporary track-side structures.

In most scenarios, guests will be directed to their vehicles for shelter. If it is unsafe for guests to return to their vehicles, the PA Announcer will designate the nearest safe shelter locations. Event Staff will be available to assist guests in seeking shelter once an evacuation is activated.

Morris Williams Stadium will remain closed until severe weather including lightning is clear of an eight (8) mile radius of the venue. Resumption of competition will only occur once an all clear has been given and conditions are deemed safe after consultation among the Atlantic Coast Conference, Duke Game Operations, Duke Police and Meet Officials.

Smoking

Duke University is a Tobacco-Free Campus, including game days at Morris Williams Stadium. The policy prohibits the use of all tobacco-based products, including but not limited to cigarettes, cigars, cigarillos, chewing tobacco, snuff, and electronic smoking devices (including e-cigarettes, vaping products, and IQOS). Stadium Map

Strollers

Strollers are permitted inside Morris Williams Stadium. Please note that there is no stroller check inside the stadium. Guests may park strollers under the stadium bleachers at their own risk. Duke University and the Atlantic Coast Conference assume no responsibility for loss of any items left in unattended strollers.

Umbrellas

Umbrellas are permitted inside Morris Williams Stadium. Umbrellas may be raised in the bleachers as long as they do not obstruct or interfere with another guest’s enjoyment of the meet.

Video Camera Policy

All championship video footage rights are the property of the Atlantic Coast Conference and its television partners. Video cameras are permitted for personal use only.
