Upcoming Event: Women's Golf versus ANNIKA Intercollegiate on September 8, 2025

The Iron Dukes Varsity Club facilitates sport-specific funding for Duke University’s 27 varsity sports, as well as Marching Band and Cheerleading. Funds raised for each team’s Varsity Club are used by that program for annual sport-specific needs. While each team’s needs are different, Varsity Club support gives each program the opportunity to excel as they compete against the best competition in the country.
MAKE AN ANNUAL GIFT TO THE IRON DUKES VARSITY CLUB
Annual gifts to the Varsity Club not only bolster programs but help Duke Athletics meet critical operational needs such as supplementing travel budgets and upgrading team facilities. Additionally, funds have been used for international team-travel experiences, the purchase of state-of-the-art training equipment, and the fortifying of initiatives specifically targeting student-athlete well-being such as nutrition, recovery and mental health.
GROW YOUR ANNUAL SUPPORT AND CONSIDER A MULTI-YEAR PLEDGE
Leadership gifts of $1,000 or more per year over three years allow coaches to count on sustained funding, providing them an opportunity to plan effectively for their team's needs. International trips, facilities projects, and pre and post season travel are made possible by these types of multi-year gifts.
CONTRIBUTE TO A SPECIFIC TEAM PROJECT
Each year coaches identify special projects, which are outside of their annual budget, that will help meet their student-athletes' needs. Major gifts of $25,000 and above make a significant impact in addressing these needs. Recent team projects include locker room renovations, branding projects, practice facility upgrades, and the purchase of specialized training equipment.
ESTABLISH A SPORTS ENDOWMENT
Endowment level gifts of $100,000 or more provide long term sustainability for our athletic programs by funding scholarships and providing additional operating support beyond the Duke Athletics budget. Permanent sources of funding are vital to the future of Duke's 27 teams and allow Duke Athletics to continue to provide for our student-athletes both now and for future generations.
