Former Duke Standout Jason Kreis Named Real Salt Lake Coach, Retires From Playing In MLS

DURHAM, N.C. ? Jason Kreis, who played at Duke from 1991-1994, was named the head coach of Major League Soccer’s Real Salt Lake earlier this month. Kreis is the MLS’ all-time leading scorer, and was playing for Real Salt Lake prior to being offered its coaching position. He retired immediately as a player to take on his duties as a coach. The team has gone 0-0-2 since Kreis took over.

While at Duke Kreis was a three-time All-America selection. He ranks tied for eight at Duke with 39 career goals, third with 38 assists and fifth with 116 points. In 1992, Kreis helped lead Duke all the way to the NCAA Final Four.
