Duke volleyball player Nana Meriwether, named to the All-ACC Freshman Team, was the lone Duke player to earn year-end ACC honors, as released by the conference office Wednesday afternoon. Maryland's Janice Kruger received Coach of the Year honors, while Georgia Tech's Kele Eveland and Florida State's Cassie McLaughlin were named Player and Freshman of the Year, respectively.
Meriwether, an outside hitter/middle blocker from Washington, D.C., was one of six newcomers named to the All-ACC Freshman Team, chosen by the league's head coaches. She has played in 27 of 28 matches for the Blue Devils, starting 21. Meriwether ranks second on the squad in both attack percentage (.238) and blocks (94), while ranking third in kills (207).
The Blue Devils finished the regular season with a 10-18 overall record and a 6-10 conference ledger. Duke, seeded seventh in the conference, will face second-seed Maryland in the opening round of the ACC Tournament on Friday, Nov. 21.
