2019-20: Earned his best career finish at the ACC Championships, placing 18th in the 100 backstroke with a career best time ... Also a member of the 400 medley relay at ACCs that swam the second fastest time in Duke history ... Placed ninth in the 100 backstroke finals at the NC State Wolpack Invitational in November ... Reached two more finals in that meet, finishing 17th in the 200 backstroke and 22nd in the 50 freestyle ... Recorded a win in the 100 back against the then-14th ranked Georgia Bulldogs (10/26) ... Assisted with the seaosn-opening sweeep of Florida State with a win in the 100 backstroke (10/12).Â
2018-19: Swam on Duke's record-breaking 200 and 800 freestyle relays at the ACC Championships ... Also member of the Blue Devils' 400 medley relay that clocked the second-fastest mark in program history (3:08.93) ... Individually, notched a 19th-place finish in the 100 backstroke with a clocking that ranked third on Duke's all-time top 10 (47.35) and also scored in the 200 backstroke ... Took second in the 100 backstroke and third at the 200-yard distance at the Big Al Invitational … Also led off winning 400 medley relay and swam on first place 800 freestyle relay at the meet at Princeton .. During the summer of 2019, participated in the Rubenstein-Bing Student-Athlete Civic Engagement Program, a collaborative service initiative between Duke and Stanford ... As a member of the program, traveled to China where he supported the work of VIA’s local partner, China Exploration and Research Society (CERS) through designing and coaching at sports camps, leading education-focused workshops to local village children in a minority population area of Yunnan Province in Southwestern China, and other projects at CERS.
2017-18: Cracked Duke’s all-time performance list in the 200 individual medley at the ACC Championships (1:48.54) ... Also turned in the fourth-fastest mark in program history in the 100 backstroke preliminaries (48.17) and the sixth-fastest in the 200 backstroke (1:46.22) ... That mark placed him 23rd in the event bonus final.
Prior to Duke: North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association 1A/2A state champion in the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke as a sophomore … Qualified for YMCA Short Course Nationals all four years of high school … Finalist in the 100 and 200 backstroke at the 2017 YMCA Short Course Nationals … Took fifth in the 100 freestyle at the 2017 South Carolina Short Course Championships … Member of the Upper Palmetto YMCA Stingrays club team … Received a Spartan Award for swimming all four years … Recipient of the David Gross Award for athletic and academic excellence as a freshman … Member of the National Honor Society, French Honor Society, Music Honor Society and the Math Honor Society.
