DURHAM, N.C. — Former Duke women's soccer standout Toni Payne has signed a professional contract with Inter Milan. The 2017 Blue Devil graduate will compete for the top-tier club in Italy's Serie A Femminile and in the UEFA Women's Champions League.
Widely considered one of the premier professional women's soccer teams in Italy, Inter Milan is coming off a second-place finish this past season with a 13-4-5 ledger.
Inter Milan will open the 2026 season Aug. 21 against Parma in the Serie A Women's Cup.
Payne is coming off playing for two seasons with Everton FC in England.
She has represented Nigeria on the international stage since 2021 and played in the 2023 World Cup and the 2024 Olympics. Payne will represent Nigeria in the Women's Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where Nigeria is the reigning champion. The competition will kick off July 26.
