DURHAM, N.C. – With the Duke men's and women's tennis programs awaiting the NCAA Tournament selection shows Monday, April 27, there is still time to sign up to support the Big Sets for Little Hearts program, which benefits the Duke Children's Hospital Pediatric and Congenital Heart Center.
So far this season, Duke has raised $6,209.20 and over the first two years of the program the Blue Devils have brought in $16,321.40.
Big Sets for Little Hearts pledges are made based on the number of sets won by the men's and women's tennis programs. During the 2024-25 season, the two teams combined to win a total of 824 sets.
So far in 2025-26, the women have compiled an 18-7 overall record and are currently ranked No. 16 nationally, while the men are No. 42 with a 15-13 ledger. The men's selection show airs April 27 at 4 p.m., and the women's show will be at 4:30 p.m. Both will be live on NCAA.com.
If you are interested in supporting Blue Devil tennis' partnership with Duke Children's, you can pledge for each set won during the season or make a one-time donation. Pledges start at $0.10, $0.50, $1.00 and $2.50. Based on last year's results, the smallest pledged donation would be equal to $64.70. One-time donations are always welcome as well.
The Duke Children's Pediatric and Congenital Heart Center is the No. 2 ranked pediatric cardiology and heart surgery program in the United States for newborns and children with congenital and acquired heart disease. The Duke Pediatric and Congenital Heart Center strives to improve its patients' outcomes and the quality of their lives.
To be able to accomplish this, the center achieves some of the highest survival rates in the U.S. in very sick patients who require advanced, complex care. The Heart Center performed more than 450 heart operations in 2023, including significantly more complicated procedures when compared to other centers across the country. The Duke Pediatric and Congenital Heart Center was the first to successfully perform several new approaches to pediatric heart transplant surgery, including donation after cardiac death transplantation, partial heart transplantation, combination heart and thymus transplantation. They pioneered new surgical techniques that lower risk and ensure heart surgery is better tolerated by the tiniest babies.
