DALLAS – The No. 47 SMU men's tennis team earned a 4-1 victory against No. 43 Duke Friday evening at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex.Â
Â
Cooper Williams picked up a singles victory and Williams andÂ

HOW IT HAPPENED
- SMU (10-6, 2-1 ACC) captured the doubles point with wins on courts two and three after Duke claimed a win in the top position.Â
- The Blue Devils' 11th-ranked duo of Pedro Rodenas and Cooper Williams blew past SMU's Alex Finkelstein and Krish Arora 6-1 on court one. Rodenas and Williams are now 9-2 overall and 3-0 in ACC competition.Â
- The Mustangs started their rally on court two, where Trevor Svajda and Jerry Barton topped Gerard Planelles Ripoll and Dylan Long, 6-4. SMU's pair led 3-1 before Duke cut the deficit to 4-3 and 5-4, but could not force the tie.Â
- On court three, Teddy Truwit and Alexander Visser fell, 6-2, to Georgi Georgiev and Vikas Deo. Duke's tandem was behind 2-0, but broke to trail only 2-1. SMU then took the next two games to take control of the match at 4-1.Â
- Duke (6-7, 1-2 ACC) quickly evened the score at 1-1 overall with No. 62 Williams defeating No. 107 Finkelstein, 6-2, 6-2, on court two. Williams led 2-0 in the opening set and Finkelstein evened it at 2-2 before Williams captured the final four. Williams again took a 2-0 lead in the second set, but Finkelstein only got one game back this time as Williams led 5-2 before ending the match.Â
- SMU regained the lead at 2-1 after a 6-1, 6-0 victory by Georgiev against No. 123 Planelles Ripoll on three.Â
- The Mustangs pushed their advantage to 3-1 on court one, where No. 2 Svajda downed No. 103 Rodenas, 6-4, 6-1. Rodenas was even at 1-1 and 2-2 before jumping ahead 4-2 in the first set. From there, however, Svajda claimed 10 of the final 11 games to take the match. Â
- SMU clinched on court six, where Noah McDonald topped Saahith Jayaraman, 6-1, 6-2. McDonald cruised through the opening set, but trailed 1-0 and 2-1 in the second before capturing the final five games to end the match.Â
