CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Duke freshman forward
Cameron Boozer secured his ninth ACC Rookie of the Week award of the season, the conference announced Monday, Feb. 23.
Boozer averaged 20.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.0 block while shooting 70.0% from the field during the Blue Devils' 2-0 week, highlighted by a win over No. 1 Michigan. He went 14-of-20 from the floor, 2-of-3 from three-point range and 10-of-13 at the free-throw line.Â
The Miami, Florida, native recorded double-doubles in both victories, finishing with 22 points and 12 rebounds in 25 minutes against Syracuse before posting 18 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and two blocks in the win over the top-ranked Wolverines to earn game MVP honors. With two more double-doubles, the freshman now has 15 on the season.
Over the last 12 seasons (since the start of 2013-14), Duke has had an ACC Rookie of the Week in 108 of a possible 219 weeks (49.3%). Twenty-eight different Blue Devils have won the award at least once in that time.
Up next, No. 1 Duke (25-2, 13-1 ACC) visits Notre Dame (12-15, 3-11 ACC) on Tuesday, Feb. 24, at Purcell Pavilion in South Bend, Indiana. The Blue Devils and Fighting Irish are scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m., on ESPN.Â
