CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Duke freshman forward
Cameron Boozer has been named the ACC Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Monday, Jan. 5.
In a pair of conference victories, Boozer averaged 21.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 3.0 steals, while shooting 54.2% from the field, 42.9% from three-point range and 77.8% from the free-throw line.
In Duke's win over Georgia Tech, Boozer recorded his seventh double-double of the season with 26 points, 12 boards, two assists and two steals.
During the Blue Devils' road win at Florida State, the freshman stuffed the stat sheet with 17 points, five rebounds, nine assists and four steals. His nine assists against the Seminoles are the most by a Blue Devil in the past three seasons (most since 10 assists by
Tyrese Proctor against Pittsburgh in the 2023 ACC Tournament).
The Miami, Florida, native has been named ACC Rookie of the Week in five of a possible nine weeks so far this season. Over the last 12 seasons (since the start of 2013-14), Duke has had an ACC Rookie of the Week in 103 of a possible 209 weeks (49.3%). Twenty-eight different Blue Devils have won the award at least once in that time.
No. 6 Duke (13-1, 2-0 ACC) next takes the court on Tuesday, Jan. 6, when it travels to No. 20 Louisville (11-3, 1-1 ACC). The Blue Devils and Cardinals are scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m., at the KFC Yum! Center. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN.
