CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Duke freshman forward
Cameron Boozer has been named the ACC Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Monday, Jan. 12.
In a pair of top-25 victories, Boozer averaged 22.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals per contest, while shooting 15-of-21 (.714) from the field, 5-of-8 (.625) from 3-point range and 10-of-12 (.833) from the free-throw line.
In a road win over No. 20 Louisville, he scored a game-high 27 points on 10-of-12 shooting from the floor, including 3-of-4 from long distance, while collecting eight rebounds, four assists and two steals.
During the Blue Devils' home triumph over No. 24 SMU, Boozer posted 18 points, seven boards, four dimes and two steals.
The Miami, Florida, native has been named ACC Rookie of the Week in six of a possible 10 weeks so far this season. Over the last 12 seasons (since the start of 2013-14), Duke has had an ACC Rookie of the Week in 104 of a possible 210 weeks (49.5%). Twenty-eight different Blue Devils have won the award at least once in that time.
No. 6 Duke (15-1, 4-0 ACC) next takes the court on Wednesday, Jan. 14, when it travels to California (13-4, 1-3 ACC). The Blue Devils and Golden Bears are scheduled to tip off inside Haas Pavilion at 11 p.m., ET. The game will be broadcast on ACC Network.
