KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Duke men's basketball head coach
Jon Scheyer has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Board of Directors, the organization announced Wednesday. Scheyer, along with eight other head coaches representing all three NCAA divisions, officially began his term Sept. 2 during the Board's annual fall meeting.
The NABC Board of Directors serves as the association's top leadership body, providing strategic oversight of daily operations and advocacy efforts.
"As college athletics and the game of basketball undergo unprecedented transformation, it's vital that coaches continue to present a unified voice and demonstrate sound national leadership," said NABC Executive Director Craig Robinson. "These nine coaches were identified by their peers as ideal candidates to represent our over 5,000 members on the NABC Board of Directors, and their diverse perspectives will strengthen the NABC's efforts to support the profession and grow the sport."
A former Duke All-American and two-time team captain, Scheyer was named the 20th head coach in the program's storied history in June 2021, succeeding Hall of Fame coach Mike Krzyzewski. He enters his fourth season leading the Blue Devils in 2025-26 after a record-setting start to his tenure.
In 2024-25, Scheyer guided Duke to a 35-4 record, the ACC regular-season and tournament championships, and the school's 18th Final Four appearance. The Blue Devils became just the sixth team in school history to reach 35 wins, and Scheyer became the first head coach in conference history to win two ACC Tournament titles within his first three seasons.
With 89 career wins, Scheyer shares the record for most victories by a Division I head coach in their first three seasons, joining Brad Stevens (Butler) and Brad Underwood (Stephen F. Austin). This past year, he was recognized with the John McLendon National Coach of the Year Award.
Scheyer has been a part of the Duke staff since 2013, serving as a special assistant, assistant coach and associate head coach before being elevated to head coach.Â
