NORTON, Mass. – Former Duke women's golf standout Miranda Wang claimed her first LPGA victory Sunday as she won the FM Championship, which was contested at TPC Boston in Norton. Wang fired rounds of 66, 67, 65 and 70 over four days to shoot a 20-under, 268, and won by one stroke.
A 2020 Duke graduate, Wang became the fourth Blue Devil to win a LPGA tournament – Brittany Lang, Celine Boutier and Leona Maguire. Wang was a member of Duke's 2019 NCAA Championship squad and sank the winning putt for the Blue Devils to win their seventh NCAA crown.
"It's a dream come true," said Wang. "Winning [on the] LPGA has been my dream since day one of my golf. I hope it's the first of many and I will work hard. I hope one day I will win a major. Yeah, it's a wonderful beginning of my LPGA career. It's my rookie year and this happened, so it's a wonderful start."
Wang held a 3-stroke lead heading into the final day of action and had a terrific start Sunday with birdies on No. 2 and No. 3 to get to 20-under-par. After a bogey on No. 5, Wang went back to 20-under with a birdie on the ninth hole. Wang suffered a bogey on No. 15 and dropped to 19-under and one shot behind world No. 1 Jeeno Thitikul (-20). Thitikul had a bogey on No. 17, while Wang stuck her approach close on No. 17 for birdie and regained the lead at 20-under-par.
Needing a par on the par-5 No. 18 to win, Wang was perfect with her drive, approaches and 2-putted for par to claim the victory.
Wang earned a check of $615,000 and moved her earnings for the season to $1,038,151. She moved into the top 30 of the Race to the CME Globe. Wang is one of seven rookies to win on the LPGA Tour in 2025.
