DURHAM, N.C. – A trio of Duke women's golfers –
Andie Smith,
Rianne Malixi and
Avery McCrery – were honored Friday by the Golf Channel and Golfweek.
Golf Channel announced its preseason All-America teams with Malixi earning First Team All-America and Smith receiving Honorable Mention All-America. Malixi also garnered preseason First Team All-Freshman honors while McCrery was tabbed to the Second Team All-Freshman squad.
As a team, Duke also was listed No. 6 in the Golf Channel preseason top-30 rankings. Stanford earned the top slot while Texas (2), Oregon (3), Southern California (4), Arizona State (5), Duke (6), Texas A&M (7), LSU (8), Arkansas (9) and Florida (10) were in the top 10.
Golfweek also released a 10-member Freshmen to Watch list with both Malixi and McCrery among those selected.
Smith, a product of Hobe Sound, Fla., returns for the Blue Devils after graduating from Duke in only three years with a degree in economics along with a markets and management certificate. She is attending Duke's Fuqua School of Business in the M.M.S. program in 2025-26. Smith was an Honorable Mention All-America selection a season ago as she collected a career-best 72.33 stroke average to go along with 12 rounds of even or under par and registered her first collegiate victory at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational.
A native of Manila, Philippines, Malixi was the top-rated recruit in the 2025 class and has been ranked as high as No. 3 in the Women's Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR). She is coming off a very impressive 2024 season where she won the U.S. Women's Amateur, U.S. Girls' Junior and the Australian Master of the Amateurs. Over her career on the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA), Malixi totaled seven wins, 18 top-5, 20 top-10 and 25 top-20 finishes.
McCrery, who hails from Wilmington, Del., is coming off a solid career on the AJGA with eight victories, 29 top-5, 47 top-10 and 54 top-20 finishes. She also featured an impressive 2024 season with wins at the Girls' Junior PGA Championship and the Scott Robertson Memorial while also placing in the top 10 at the Rolex Girls Junior Championship and the Fortinet Girls Invitational. McCrery was rated as the No. 2 recruit in the 2025 class rankings.
The Blue Devils have been preseason ranked No. 6 by both Golfweek and Golf Channel and will open the 2025-26 campaign Sept. 8-10 at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate in Lake Elmo, Minn.
