DURHAM, N.C. – Three men's tennis standouts with Duke ties will compete at the 2025 US Open, held Aug. 24-Sept. 7, at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City.

Garrett Johns at the prestigious event. Williams and Winegar clinched a US Open main draw wild card entry as the duo earned a straight-set victory (6-4, 6-4) in the championship doubles match of the 2025 American Collegiate Wild Card Playoff.
On Wednesday, Johns was announced as a wild card recipient to the US Open Qualifying tournament, held from Aug. 18-21. The Atlanta native has played his best professional tennis this spring, winning a trio of singles titles. He was a three-time team captain (2022-23-24) at Duke and a 2023 Singles All-American and 2024 Doubles All-American. While a Blue Devil, Johns earned All-ACC singles honors in 2021 (2nd), 2022 (2nd), 2023 (1st), and 2024 (1st) and doubles all-league accolades in 2023 (1st) and 2024 (1st).Â
