DURHAM, N.C.— Duke women's soccer is welcoming seven newcomers to the pitch in 2025 as
Kieran Hall takes over the reigns as the head coach of the Blue Devils. The seven-member class is ranked No. 3 nationally by TopDrawerSoccer.
The Blue Devils will spotlight each of the seven newcomers ahead of preseason practice starting in late July.
Our seventh rookie is
Kosette Koons-Perdikis, a 5-7 midfielder from Chevy Chase, Md. A 2024 H.S. All-America selection, Koons-Perdikis is the sister of current Duke junior
Kaeden Koons-Perdikis. Kosette is a
2024 Washington Post All-Met selection and 2022-24 All ISL selection, while leading St. Andrew's to an undefeated season in 2024 and its first ISL Championship since 2005. Over her high school career, compiled 15 goals, 35 assists and totaling 65 points. Helped lead her club teams to the ECNL Champions League for four consecutive years from 2021-24. She played for Bethesda SC ECNL and Fairfax Virginia Union (McLean) ECNL club teams.

GD: What made you choose Duke?
Kosette Koons-Perdikis:Â I chose Duke because of the "work hard, play hard" mentality. While everyone is exceptionally driven in the classroom and on the field, everyone shares a deep, contagious passion for the school that fosters a fun environment to be a part of.Â
Â
GD: Tell us about your soccer game and what you hope to bring to Duke?
KKP:Â I play holding/defensive mid. I like to control the tempo of the game through connecting the back line with the attack. I am also very defensive and love to be aggressive and tackle. Growing up, I would tug at a player's jersey before kick-off to "see how the ref was going to call the game." I hope to bring a strong defensive presence and composed offensive confidence to Duke throughout my next four years.Â
Â
GD: Favorite Duke player you grew up liking to watch?
KKP:Â My favorite player to watch this past season was
Hannah Bebar. As a holding mid, I enjoyed watching how she worked the ball, moved off the ball, anticipated plays and controlled the game.Â
Â
GD: Most excited for at Duke (soccer and not soccer)?
KKP:Â I am most excited to be a part of the soccer team. From the time I have spent with the team I can tell that it's more than just a sports team -- it's a family. I cannot wait to work for something bigger than myself with people that I trust, value and respect.Â
Â
GD: What is a fun fact/skill/talent people may not know about you?
KKP:Â A fun fact that people may not know about me is that growing up I was obsessed with sharks. I would spend hours each day researching sharks, tracking sightings, attending camps and compiling presentations on different species. I even transformed a closet in my room to a "shark closet" so I could display my research and findings. Although my passion for sharks is not as intense as it once was, I continue to love animals and marine life.Â
Â
GD: Who are your biggest inspirations on and off the pitch?
KKP:Â My biggest inspirations are my parents. They are the hardest working people that I know that never fail to show me intense love, respect and dedication. They are both immensely passionate about their jobs -- something that I largely aspire to -- a work each day to show me and my siblings how to be good people.Â
Â
GD: What is your proudest moment on the soccer field so far?
KKP:Â My proudest moment on the soccer field was when the final whistle blew at the last game of my senior season. I had led the team to an undefeated season and a championship banner -- something that hadn't happened in over 20 years. From not winning a single game during my eighth-grade year, I took immense pride in helping to build the program into what it became.Â
Â
GD: At what age did you start playing soccer?
KKP:Â I started playing soccer when I was 4.Â
Â
GD: Did you play other sports growing up?
KKP:Â Growing up I played flag football and travel basketball but stopped when I got to high school. I played lacrosse throughout middle school and all four years of high school.Â
Â
GD: I know it is early, but do you have any idea yet what you think you might want to major in?
KKP:Â I am pretty set on following a pre-med track with thoughts of majoring in Psychology, Philosophy, or Biology.Â
