DURHAM, N.C. — Former Duke women's soccer National Player of the Year Michelle Cooper will represent the United States for its upcoming matches against China PR and Jamaica, as announced Tuesday.
Cooper and the USA will face China PR at Allianz Field in St. Paul, Minn., Saturday, May 31 at 5:30 p.m. (ET) on TBS, HBO Max, Universo & Peacock in Spanish and on the radio on Westwood One Sports. Then on June 3, the United States is set to take on Jamaica at Energizer Park in St. Louis, Mo., on Tuesday, June 3 at 8 p.m. (ET) on TNT, HBO Max, Universo & Peacock in Spanish and on the radio on Westwood One Sports.
United States head coach Emma Hayes will name 23 players to suit up for both matches.
Cooper made her USWNT debut during the SheBelieves Cup, coming on as a second-half substitute in a 2-0 victory over Colombia on Feb. 20. In the team's next match against Australia, she scored her first international goal in the 68th minute which stood as the game-winner in a 2-1 win. Cooper also had a decorated youth national team career, highlighted by winning the Golden Boot and Golden Ball at the 2022 Concacaf U-20 Championship as well as captaining her team at the 2022 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
A two-time All-America at Duke, Cooper was the 2022 winner of the Hermann Award as the National Player of the Year in NCAA Division I women's soccer.
