Cooper Makes Debut with U.S. Women’s National Team

DURHAM, N.C. — Former Duke women's soccer National Player of the Year Michelle Cooper recently made her debut with the United States Women's National Team in the 2025 SheBelieves Cup.
Cooper, a two-time All-American at Duke, made her debut with the U.S. in the opening match against Colombia in a 2-0 victory. She came off the bench and played 26 minutes. With the USA leading, 1-0, Cooper made her appearance in the 62nd minute. Then, six minutes later she found the back of the net for her first goal with the national team to put the U.S. ahead 2-0. The United States ended up claiming a 2-1 victory against Australia with Cooper's tally ending up being the game-winner.
"It was like a blur," said Cooper. "I am going to be honest. It was such a crazy moment. We just kept attacking them, attacking them and attacking them. To be able to get the goal and win off that felt great."
In the championship match against Japan, Cooper did not see action and the U.S. dropped a 2-1 decision.
Cooper and the Kansas City Current will open the 2025 National Women's Soccer Leage (NWSL) season on March 15 at Portland.
