CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Duke freshman
Toby Fournier captured the program's sixth ACC Rookie of the Year honor, as the ACC announced the conference's postseason awards Tuesday evening.
Fournier also locked up a spot on the All-ACC First Team and ACC All-Freshman Team, while junior
Ashlon Jackson received second-team recognition.
Jadyn Donovan rounded out the group of Blue Devils garnering postseason awards as the sophomore was tapped to the All-Defensive Team.
Duke now boasts 74 All-ACC selections all-time (first, second and third teamers), second in the league behind North Carolina (75).
Fournier, the freshman phenom from Toronto, Ont., Canada, continues to rack up the awards amid a stellar rookie campaign. She is Duke's 38th first-team All-ACC honoree and 26th freshman team selection, becoming the first Duke rookie since Elizabeth Williams in 2012, and just the third all-time (Alana Beard, Elizabeth Williams) to earn a spot on the All-ACC First Team.
A six-time ACC Rookie of the Week selection – tops in the league – and three-time U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) Tamika Catchings National Freshman of the Week, Fournier leads the Blue Devils in scoring, field goals made, field goal percentage and free throws made, while ranking second in rebounds and blocks. She leads all ACC freshmen in scoring, field goals per game, field goal percentage, two-point field goals and attempts, free throws made and attempts, offensive rebounds and total rebounds, per HerHoopStats (min. 15 games played). Her 55-percent shooting percentage is also 33rd in the NCAA.
The versatile forward has netted nine 20-point games and is tied for the team high with 19 contests in double figures – No. 2 and No. 10, respectively, on the Duke freshman charts. Fournier is the only freshman in the Power 4 – and one of just six Power 4 Conference players overall – averaging at least 14.0 points on 55-percent shooting, 5.0 rebounds and 1.0 blocks. Additionally, she is one of just two freshmen nationally (Joyce Edwards) to lead an AP top-15 team in scoring.
Fournier is the second player under head coach
Kara Lawson to earn the league's rookie of the year honor, joining Shayeann Day-Wilson in 2021-22.
Jackson is the 27th Blue Devil all-time to garner a spot on the All-ACC Second Team. The China, Texas product leads the squad in three pointers (69) and minutes per game (28.2) while ranking second in scoring (12.1). She has posted 19 double-digit scoring games this season, including four contests with 20 or more points, and ranks fifth in the ACC and 47th nationally in three pointers. Jackson is one of only 13 players in the Power 4 this season putting up at least 12 points, 2.0 assists, 2.0 rebounds and 1.0 steals while shooting 39 percent from three.
Donovan becomes Duke's 26th All-Defensive selection, increasing the Blue Devils' league leading total of defensive team honorees. A mainstay on the glass and one of the most versatile defenders in the ACC, Donovan paces Duke in rebounds and blocks while ranking third in steals. She has totaled 18 games this season with seven-plus rebounds and seven with double digits boards, while producing 14 contests with at least two steals and nine tilts with two or more blocks. In ACC play, the sophomore ranked fourth with 1.6 blocks per game. Donovan is one of five players in the ACC, and one of just 16 in the Power 4, averaging at least 6.0 rebounds, 1.0 blocks and 1.0 steals per game.
NC State's Wes Moore was voted the ACC Coach of the Year while Notre Dame's Hannah Hidalgo was tapped ACC Player and Defensive Player of the Year. Zoe Brooks of NC State was named Most Improved Player, with Georgia Tech's Dani Carnegie earning the league's Sixth Player of the Year.
Voting for the league's annual postseason awards was done by the ACC's head coaches and a panel of media that cover the conference.
No. 11 Duke turns its attention to the postseason, starting with the 2025 Ally ACC Tournament slated for March 5-9 in Greensboro, N.C. The Blue Devils are the No. 3 seed and will play Friday, March 7 at 7:30 p.m., live on ACC Network.
