Flagg Wins Both ACC Weekly Awards for Fourth Time This Season

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Duke freshman guard/forward Cooper Flagg took home both ACC Men's Basketball Player and Rookie of the Week honors, the conference announced on Monday, Feb. 3.
Flagg has earned both weekly honors on four separate occasions this season, continuing to make history as the only player to do so more than twice in a single campaign. Earning both awards has been accomplished a total of 20 times by 13 players, including 15 times by eight Blue Devils.
During Duke's 2-0 week over in-state foes NC State and North Carolina, Flagg averaged 24.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.5 blocked shots per game. He collected 28 points, seven boards, three assists, a steal and a block against the Wolfpack on Monday night, then amassed 21 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, three steals and two shot rejections against the Tar Heels on Saturday evening.
Including his assisted scores, Flagg accounted for 37 points (21+16) against North Carolina and 34 points (28+6) versus NC State, an average of 35.5 points responsible for per contest - 44% of Duke's offensive production.
Over the last 11 seasons (since the start of 2013-14), Duke has had an ACC Rookie of the Week in 95 of a possible 199 weeks (47.7%). Twenty-six different Blue Devils have won the award at least once in that time. The Blue Devils have now had an ACC Player of the Week 151 total times, second most in the league, trailing only North Carolina (157).
Flagg has been named ACC Rookie of the Week nine times, tied for the second most by any Duke freshman, joining Kyle Filipowski (2022-23) and Austin Rivers (2011-12). The four Player of the Week honors are tied for third most in Duke single-season history, alongside Nolan Smith (2010-11) and JJ Redick (2004-05).
A native of Newport, Maine, Flagg shared this week's ACC Player of the Week recognition with Donald Hand Jr., of Boston College.
No. 2 Duke (19-2, 11-0 ACC) travels north for its next conference game, matching up with Syracuse (10-12, 4-7 ACC). Tipoff at the JMA Wireless Dome is scheduled for 7 p.m., and the game will be broadcast on ESPN2.
