DAVIDSON, N.C. — A total of 11 members of the Duke wrestling program competed over the weekend at the Wildcat Open, which was held on the campus of Davidson College inside the John M. Belk Arena.

Seeing action over the weekend was Evan Coles, Riley Rowan, Spencer Von Savoye, Noah Kochman, Peter Chacon, Eli Murray, Dylan Ross, Dash Hort, Logan Richey, Ryan Beirne and Owen McGrory.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Blue Devils featured four different wrestlers that placed in the Wildcat Open as Spencer Von Savoye was fourth at 133 pounds, Dylan Ross was second at 149 pounds, while Peter Chacon and Eli Murray were third and fourth at 149 pounds as well.
After dropping his first bout, Von Savoye won two out of his next three matches in the consolation bracket with victories against Citadel's Marcus Wright and Sam Cherichello.Von Savoye dropped the third-place bout with an 18-7 major decision versus Elijah Lowe of Chattanooga.
Noah Kochman opened his morning with a tech fall 15-0 win against Davidson's Bryce Clement at 141 pounds, but fell in his next to bouts.
Murray also totaled an 11-8 decision against Jaydon Robinson of NC State in his first bout at 149 pounds, but fell in a 6-0 decision in the next round to Tyler Xavier McKnight of Davidson.
Ross featured Duke's best start to the day with three-straight wins to land in the championship bout at 149 pounds.He totaled a 10-0 major decision versus Campbell's Oliver Fairchild, a 5-1 decision against Khamani Harrison of Gardner-Webb and a 10-2 major decision versus Gavin Linsman of NC State.In the title bout, he was pinned by Tyler Xavier McKnight of Davidson at 1:38.
Peter Chacon won three bouts in the consolation bracket at 149 pounds with a fall at 23 seconds against Robinson of NC State, while totaling a 4-1 decision versus NC State's Gavin Linsman and a tech fall, 17-1, versus Murray of Duke.
Owen McGrory totaled a pair of wins in the consolation bracket against Brett Sanderlin of Davidson and Aidan Schlett of North Carolina.

WHAT IS NEXT

Duke awaits the ACC Championship on Sunday, March 9, which will be contested inside Cameron Indoor Stadium.
