DURHAM, N.C. —The second coaches' ranking and first NCAA Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) for the 2025 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships were released Thursday with Duke's
Connor Barket and
Aidan Wallace listed at 285 and 165 pounds, respectively.Â
Â
The rankings list the top 33 wrestlers at each weight with Barket coming in at No. 24 and Wallace at No. 28 nationally. In the RPI, Barket is No. 16 and Wallace is No. 26.Â
Â
The coaches' rankings are determined by a vote of 16 coaches in each weight class with two head coaches from each of the eight conferences. For ranking purposes, coaches may only consider a wrestler that has been designated as a starter at a respective weight class. Wrestlers must have eight Division I matches in the weight class to be considered with at least one within the last 30 days.
Â
The RPI is a calculation that consists of three factors: winning percentage, opponent winning percentage (strength of schedule) and opponent's opponent winning percentage (opponent's strength of schedule). Only matches against Division I opponents at the designated weight class count towards the RPI and a wrestler needs to have wrestled 15 matches to be ranked.
Â
Wallace, a native of Mahwah, N.J., owns a 22-7 ledger on the season with three victories against ranked opponents. He advanced to the semifinals of the Southern Scuffle to open 2025 and recently registered the highest-ranked victory of his career with a 4-1 sudden victory win over 23rd-ranked Mac Church of Virginia Tech. Wallace's 22 wins currently ranks as the third-most in single-season history at 165 pounds.Â
Â
A product of West Lafayette, Ind., Barket has collected 22 victories on the year. Barket has registered two ranked wins on the year and is 12-4 on the season in dual matches. His ranked wins came against 19th-ranked Stephan Monchery of Appalachian State and 33rd-ranked Jack Forbes of Utah Valley. In just two seasons at Duke, Barket has already collected 38 victories at heavyweight.Â
Â
The coaches' ranking is one of several criteria that will be evaluated by the NCAA Division I Wrestling Committee during the at-large selection and seeding process along with head-to-head competition, quality wins, RPI, conference tournament placement, results versus common opponents and win percentage.
Â
The 2025 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championship take place March 20-22 at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia as the event returns for the first time since 2011.
