CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Duke freshman forward
Cameron Boozer has swept the ACC weekly men's basketball awards for the second consecutive week, the conference announced on Monday, Dec. 8.
In a pair of top-15 victories, Boozer averaged 23.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game, while shooting 50% from the field and 82% from the free-throw line.
During the Blue Devils' 67-66 victory over No. 15 Florida in the ACC/SEC Challenge, Boozer posted 29 points, six boards, two assists and a steal, marking his fifth game this season scoring 25 points or more.
In Duke's 66-60 road win at No. 7 Michigan State, the forward achieved the fifth double-double of his rookie campaign with 18 points, a season-high 15 rebounds, a team-best five assists, two steals and a blocked shot.Â
The Miami, Florida, native has now won both ACC weekly awards in three of the first five weeks of the season, joining former Blue Devil
Cooper Flagg as just the second player in the history of the conference to accomplish the feat at least three times in a season. A sweep of the weekly awards has only been accomplished 26 times by a total of 17 players, including 18 times by nine different Blue Devils.
The Blue Devils have had an ACC Player of the Week 155Â total times, second most in the league, trailing only North Carolina (158). Over the last 12Â seasons (since the start of 2013-14), Duke has had an ACC Rookie of the Week in 103 of a possible 209 weeks (49.3%). Twenty-eight different Blue Devils have won the award at least once in that time.
No. 3 Duke (10-0) next takes the court on Tuesday, Dec. 16, when it hosts Lipscomb (6-4) at Cameron Indoor Stadium. The Blue Devils and Bison are scheduled to tip off at 6 p.m., broadcast live on ACC Network.Â
