DURHAM, N.C. – No. 4 Duke's 80-71 victory over No. 22 Arkansas on Thanksgiving Day delivered historic numbers for CBS Sports, becoming the most-watched regular-season college basketball game on any network since the 1992-93 season, according to Nielsen.
Playing at the United Center in Chicago, the Blue Devils closed with a dominant surge, scoring 27 of the final 38 points to secure the win in a nationally anticipated matchup that lived up to its billing.
The "CBS Sports Thanksgiving Classic," featuring the Blue Devils and Razorbacks, averaged 6.813 million viewers, marking the largest regular-season college basketball audience on any network in more than three decades. The previous high came on Feb. 21, 1993, when Purdue faced Indiana on CBS (7.225 million).
Viewership for Duke-Arkansas also represented a 32 percent increase from last year's Thanksgiving Day game, underscoring the continued national appeal of the Blue Devils and the strength of a marquee holiday broadcast window.
Duke returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 6, as the fourth-ranked Blue Devils (9-0) visit No. 7 Michigan State (8-0).
