DURHAM, N.C. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) final fall singles and doubles rankings were released Tuesday with four Duke women's players listed in singles and three doubles teams recognized.
In singles play,
Irinia Balus (#22),
Eleana Yu (#87),
Shavit Kimchi (#93) and
Liv Hovde (#98) were ranked. Duke featured three doubles teams as well with Kimchi/Hovde (#14), Hovde/Balus (#22) and Yu/
Claire An (#32).
Balus, who hails from Banská Bystrica, Slovakia, is coming off advancing to the NCAA Singles Championship round of 16. This included knocking off Washington's Reece Carter, who is now ranked No. 43 nationally. Balus closed the fall slate by winning five out of her final seven contests and owns 15 career wins against ranked opponents in two seasons at Duke.
Highlighting her fall season, Yu collected three wins including a victory against 24th-ranked Kaitlyn Carnicella of South Carolina. A product of Marion, Ohio, Yu advanced to the quarterfinals of the ITA Sectionals and round of 32 of the ITA Regionals. She owns 35 career singles victories.
By winning four out of her final six singles matches of the fall, Kimchi had a strong finish. Her fall included one of her top wins of her collegiate career, as she knocked off 12th-ranked Theadora Rabman of North Carolina at the ITA All-American. Kimchi, a native of Sdey Hemed, Israel, advanced to the round of 16 at ITA Sectionals and ITA Regionals.
Hovde recently competed in her first NCAA Singles and Doubles Championship in Orlando, Florida. She dropped a tight contest, 5-7, 4-6, to Baylor's 102nd-ranked Zuzanna Kubacha in the round of 64. Hovde, who is from Daniel Island, South Carolina, won five out of her final eight contests, including a quarterfinal appearance in the ITA Sectionals.
Hovde and Kimchi had a great run together in the fall in doubles play, which included an appearance in the round of 16 at the NCAA Doubles Championship. The duo collected a 7-2 ledger and advanced to the semifinals of the ITA Sectionals.
Balus and Hovde played two matches together in September and went a perfect 2-0, which included an impressive win against ninth-ranked Melodie Collard and Vivian Yang of Virginia.
An and Yu combined for a 4-2 ledger this fall with four wins in a row at the ITA Regionals, before falling in the semifinals of the main draw to now eighth-ranked Carnicella and Anna Bella Bianca Bergqvist Larsson of South Carolina.
Duke opens 2026 dual match action Monday, Jan. 19 as the Blue Devils host a doubleheader with Iowa and NCCU.
