DURHAM, N.C. – Two of the newest members of the Duke football program capped their high school careers with MaxPreps All-America honors. Defensive lineman Bryce Davis and linebacker Elliott Schaper received first-team recognition.Â
Davis, who last week played in the 2025 Under Armour Next All-America Game, is a four-star prospect. He lettered four seasons at Grimsley High School in Greensboro, N.C., under head coach Darryl Brown. As a senior, Davis guided the Whirlies to the No. 1 seed in the state playoffs and captured the North Carolina High School Athletic Association 4A title. He finished his final campaign with 125 total tackles, 37 tackles for a loss, 27 sacks, five forced fumbles and eight pass breakups as Grimsley finished 16-0.Â
Schaper is a three-star prospect who was part of one state championship squad (2021), one runner-up squad (2024) and two semifinal teams (2022 and 2023) at Westlake High School in Austin, Texas. He served as a team captain as a senior and was a four-year letterwinner for head coach Tony Salazar. During his final season, he posted 128 tackles, 28 tackles for a loss and 12 sacks. As a junior, he received Austin American-Statesman Central Texas Defensive Player of the Year honors and Texas District 26-6A Defensive MVP accolades by a vote of the league's coaches.
Duke finished its season last week with a 9-4 overall record as head coach Manny Diaz matched Mike Elko as the only Duke head coaches to win nine games in their debut seasons.
