DURHAM, N.C. –The 11th-ranked Duke women's tennis team moved to 4-0 on the season with a 4-0 victory against N.C. Central to conclude a busy Monday for the Blue Devils inside the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center.
Duke collected a pair of 4-0 wins on Monday as the Blue Devils also knocked off Virginia Tech in the morning. N.C. Central dropped to 0-2 on the season.
How It Happened
- Duke's duo of Emma Jackson and Shavit Kimchi continued their hot start in dual match play with a 6-1 victory over Mariana Zottoli and Patricia Palencia on court two.With the match tied, 1-1, Jackson and Kimchi won the final five games to take the match, 6-1.
- On court three, the Blue Devil tandem of Katie Codd and Ava Krug registered their first dual match win as a doubles team with a 6-0 sweep of Valentina de Aquino Monsanto and Gabriela Mejia Arenas to clinch the doubles point for Duke.
- When the point was clinched, the match on court one between 10th-ranked Ellie Coleman and Irina Balus and Alejandra Hidalgo Vega and Valeria San Miguel Soria was tied, 3-3.
- The Blue Devils continued their solid start to the match in singles winning the first set on all six courts.
- Codd, a native of Carlsbad, Calif., made quick work of de Aquino Monsanto with a 6-0, 6-0 victory on court five.
- On court four, Coleman registered a quick, 6-0, 6-1, win against Palencia to move the score to 3-0 for the Blue Devils.
- For the second time this season, Krug clinched the win for Duke on court six with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Mejia Arenas.
- Duke was leading the other three matches when the victory was clinched.

- Katie Coddmoved to 15-6 over her career in dual match action, while Ellie Coleman is now 38-18 in dual match play.
- Ava Krug improved to 3-0 in dual match play and 8-2 in singles play as a rookie.
- Duke is now 142-9 over the last 25 years since the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center opened.
- The Blue Devils have now won 61 out of the last 62 matches when winning the doubles point.
- Emma Jackson and Shavit Kimchi moved to 4-0 in dual match play in doubles action. They are the only Blue Devil doubles team to remain undefeated in dual match action in 2025.

- The Blue Devils next travels to Charlottesville, Va., for the ITA Kickoff Weekend hosted by Virginia.Duke will face South Carolina on Friday, Jan. 24 at 4 p.m., and then will take on either Virginia or New Mexico on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 3:30 or 6:30 p.m.
