SEA ISLAND, Ga. – Duke men's golf senior
Luke Sample earned a tie for third place at the 2025 Jones Cup Invitational. Sample was one of four Blue Devils in the field, joined by
Bryan Kim,
Ethan Evans and
William Love. Kim and Evans both logged top-40 finishes, with ties for 27th and 37th respectively, and Love rounded out Duke's representation with a tie for 53rd.
The Jones Cup, first contested in 2001, is considered a top amateur event and is invite-only. The 84-player field featured one of the strongest fields in any amateur tournament in 2025, including 43 of the top 100 amateurs in the world.
Sample held a spot at the top of the leaderboard throughout all three rounds. He opened his tournament with a 4-under, 68, a round that included seven birdies, and shot a 1-over, 73, in each of the next two rounds. With his 2-under, 214, Sample was one of just seven players in the field to finish the tournament in red figures.
Kim carded a 7-over, 223, while Evans and Love finished at 9-over, 225, and 11-over, 227, respectively.
Duke men's golf returns to team action in the Southwestern Invitational, played on Jan. 27-29, at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, Calif. The Blue Devils picked up three top-three finishes during the fall portion of the schedule, highlighted by a victory at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate.
