DURHAM – For the third straight season, former Duke standout Jayson Tatum has earned All-NBA First Team honors, the league announced on Wednesday night. Tatum – after becoming the first player in program history to earn multiple All-NBA First Team nods last season – is now the only former Duke player with three consecutive First Team honors. With the honor, Tatum also extends the Blue Devils' streak of at least one All-NBA selection to six straight years – the longest collegiate streak nationally.
This is Tatum's fourth total All-NBA honor, joining his third-team pick in 2020 and his first-team selection in both 2022 and 2023. He and Grant Hill are the only former Blue Devils to be named an All-NBA First Team player.
Tatum, during his seventh regular season in the league, averaged 26.9 points and 8.1 rebounds while also averaging a career-high 4.9 assists and blocking 1.0 shots per game. A leader on the Boston Celtics, Tatum helped his team to a 64-18 regular-season record, tops in the NBA, giving the Celtics the first 60-win campaign by an Eastern Conference team since the 2012-13 season.
Tatum collected 65 first-team votes along with 34 second-team votes, for a total of 427 total points. He was joined on the First Team by Giannis Antetokounmpo, Luka Doncic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Nikola Jokic.
The Celtics currently hold a 1-0 series lead over the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals, as Tatum seeks to make his second career NBA Finals appearance.
