DURHAM, N.C. – Sophomore
Kyle Filipowski was presented the 2024 Swett-Baylin Most Valuable Player Award at the Duke men's basketball annual banquet and awards ceremony, held Thursday evening at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Filipowski, a consensus Second Team All-America selection, led the team in scoring (16.4), rebounds (8.3), blocks (1.5), steals (1.1), total field goals (220) and total free throws (112). The center was named Second Team All-America by the Associated Press, U.S. Basketball Writers Association and National Association of Basketball Coaches, and was the only underclassman on each of the three, 15-player, teams. Filipowski eclipsed the 1,000-point career milestone during the 2023-24 campaign, becoming just the seventh Blue Devil in the past 50 years to do so in their first two seasons.
Sophomore
Tyrese Proctor was named the Defensive Player of the Year and led the team in assists, finishing the season with 118. Freshman
Jared McCain led the team in free-throw percentage (.855) and was also presented with the Pagliuca Family Coach's Award, given to the player that best displayed the commitment and values of Duke basketball.
Senior
Jeremy Roach paced the team in 3-point percentage (.429), earned the Iron Duke Award for most minutes played (1,144) and was one of three players to receive the Bill Krzyzewski Captains Award, alongside Proctor and graduate student
Ryan Young, who also won the award for the team's best field goal percentage (.582).
McCain and junior
Jaylen Blakes were both named winners of the Dr. Deryl Hart Award, as the team's top scholar-athlete, while freshman
Caleb Foster took home the Glenn E. "Ted" Mann Award, as the top contributor to team morale.
