DURHAM – Coming off a weekend in which the Duke women's tennis program registered a pair of ranked road wins, the 19th-ranked Blue Devils will host eighth-ranked North Carolina on Saturday at 12 p.m., at Ambler Tennis Stadium.
Duke (12-5, 5-3 ACC) and North Carolina (14-3, 7-1) are both in the top-five of the current ACC women's tennis standings.

The Series with North Carolina
Duke and North Carolina will face off for the 92nd time in program history. The Blue Devils hold a 45-46 all-time record against the Tar Heels and will look to even the series record, after dropping their last match a season ago. The two squads will meet for the 31st time in Durham. In Durham, Duke owns a 19-11 record versus North Carolina, winning its last match, 5-2, in 2022.
Scouting North Carolina
North Carolina holds a 14-3 overall and 7-1 ACC record on the current season. According to the latest ITA rankings, the Tar Heels slot as the No. 8 team in the nation.
In singles, North Carolina features Reese Brantmeier (2), Anika Yarlagadda (20), Fiona Crawley (22), Carson Tanguilig (37), Elizabeth Scotty (42), Reilly Tran (49), Theadora Rabman (70) and Abbey Forbes (105) ranked. In doubles, Scotty/Brantmeier (1), Crawley/Tanguilig (17), Forbes/Tran (19), Scotty/Tanguilig (25), Scotty/Yarlagadda (48), and Crawley/Tran (74) are ranked.
What is Next?
Duke will close its home action for 2024 by hosting Virginia Tech (April 5) and Virginia (April 7) at Ambler Tennis Stadium. The Blue Devils welcome the Hokies on April 5 at 5 p.m., and then host the Cavaliers on April 7 at 12 p.m., for senior day.

100-Win Countdown
Over the weekend, graduate student
Iuliia Bryzgalova became the 28th Blue Devil to reach the 100-win ledger with her pair of victories against Wake Forest and NC State. Bryzgalova registered her first ranked win of the season as she knocked off 43rd-ranked Anna Zyryanova of NC State on Sunday to reach the 100-win mark.
Fellow graduate student
Brianna Shvets is currently at 99 wins and needs one to also reach the milestone.
With her doubles win recently, Bryzgalova totaled her 100th career doubles win and moved her career doubles ledger to 102-31. She also owns a 70-15 career dual match doubles mark and is 25-3 over her time in the ACC and Ivy League in doubles.
Duke Nets Impressive Road Weekend
This past weekend, the Blue Devils hit the road for matches at No. 31 Wake Forest and No. 14 NC State. Duke totaled a 4-1 victory against the Demon Deacons on Friday and then closed the weekend with its highest ranked win of the season against the 14th-ranked Wolfpack.
Sophomore
Katie Codd clinched both matches for the Blue Devils, after Duke dropped the doubles point in both contests. The Blue Devils were 0-3 in true road matches this season prior to the weekend.
Codd is currently 9-0 at the No. 4 singles slot, while totaling a 16-6 overall and 4-2 ACC ledger. She has gone from eight wins as a rookie to 16 this season. Codd has won five in a row and 11 out of her last 14 contests.

Ashworth Reaches 600 Wins

Jamie Ashworth reached his 600th victory on Jan. 20 in a 4-2 win over Illinois. He accomplished this mark in only 747 matches becoming the quickest coach to 600 wins.

Noting the Blue Devils
- Duke junior Ellie Coleman missed the last nine matches since the Blue Devils opened ACC action.Coleman is ranked No. 83 nationally in singles.
- Iuliia Bryzgalova has won eight out of her last 10 singles matches and five in a row, while Brianna Shvets has won 14 out of her last 17 and three in a row.
- Junior Emma Jackson registered her third career victory over a top-10 opponent recently as she defeated 10th-ranked Alexa Noel of Miami with a 3-6, 6-4, 10-8 win on the road.Jackson now owns seven victories this season against ranked foes.She owns 13 wins over her last 18 singles matches with five ranked wins.
- After seeing limited action as a freshman, Katie Codd had an impressive fall totaling a 7-3 record, including winners of five out of her final six matches. She tallied a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Vanderbilt's Celia Belle Mohr for the highest ranked victory of her career. Codd won her first six dual matches of her collegiate career.
- So far this season, Duke has received three ACC weekly honors – Shavit Kimchi (ACC Freshman of the Week three times) and Brianna Shvets and Iuliia Bryzgalova (ACC Doubles Team of the Week).
- The Blue Devils have won 54 out of the last 55 matches when winning the doubles point. Duke had won 47 in a row, before a defeat in the NCAA Tournament second round last season to UCLA.
- In the fall, freshman Shavit Kimchi became the first Blue Devil to open her collegiate career with a pair of top-30 ranked wins since Beatrice Capra accomplished it in 2010-11. Over the last 17 years, only Kimchi and Capra registered this feat.
