NEW YORK, N.Y. – Duke women's basketball will head back to the Silver State, as the Blue Devils have been named as one of four teams selected to compete in the inaugural Players Era Women's Championship in Las Vegas November 2025, the organization announced Monday afternoon.
A groundbreaking, first-of-its-kind college basketball event that began in 2024, the 2025 season marks the first iteration of the women's event. In addition to Duke, the Players Era Festival women's field features South Carolina, Texas and UCLA.
"This is the premier regular season tournament in women's college basketball," said Duke head coach Kara Lawson. "The brands and the talent combined create an elite showcase of our sport. I have a lot of respect for these programs and their willingness to challenge each other."
Seeking to create an environment of college basketball excellence for the game's brightest stars, coaches and most storied institutions, this week-long, in-season celebration of college basketball takes place Thanksgiving week in Las Vegas.
"We are honored to be included in the Players Era Festival – the soon-to-be premier event in women's college basketball – alongside three other elite programs," said Duke University Vice President and Director of Athletics Nina King. "We appreciate the efforts of Seth Berger and the entire team at Players Era for establishing an event that certainly will provide an exceptional experience for our student-athletes, coaches, staff and fans."
The Women's Championship will take place at the MGM in Las Vegas over three days during Thanksgiving Week and coincide with next year's Players Era Men's Championship. The round robin format ensures three marquee matchups for each team, with an overall champion determined by head-to-head record, then a series of tiebreakers including point differential, points scored and points allowed.
Complete details on the Players Era Festival schedule and TV designations will be announced at a later date.
The Blue Devils resume non-conference action Dec. 18, welcoming the Wofford Terriers to Cameron Indoor Stadium. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m., live on ACC Network..
