DURHAM, N.C. – Duke women's tennis head coach
Jamie Ashworth announced Wednesday the signing of
Claire An, who is one of the top recruits in the 2025 class. A product of New York, N.Y., An has been ranked as high as No. 7 nationally in 2024 by
TennisRecruiting.net and competes out of the Evert Tennis Academy.
"Claire's great and will be a wonderful addition to our program," said Ashworth. "She comes from a terrific and very supportive family. Claire brings a lot of national and international experience. She is academically driven and will be a perfect fit for our program and Duke University. We've been following her for the last couple of years. We're looking forward to our opportunity to get on the court and work with her to really have her game shine, have her personality come out and be a vital part of our program on and off the court."
An also owns an International Tennis Foundation (ITF) junior ranking of No. 64 and a career-best ledger of No. 6. Over her junior career, An owns two singles titles at the J100 Santo Domingo in 2023 and the J4 Guatemala in 2022. She has collected a pair of doubles titles, both in 2024, at the J200 Montreal and the J200 Santo Domingo.
In 2024, An has advanced to the singles semifinals at the J300 Barranquilla and the J300 Spring – Pan American ITF along with the finals of the J200 Veracruz. In doubles, An recently advanced to the finals of the J300 Spring – Pan American ITF as well as the final of the J300 College Park.
An competed in the U.S. Open Juniors in September, while also winning the United States Tennis Association (USTA) 2023 National Easter Bowl Championship for Girls' 16s.
