CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Duke freshman guard
Kon Knueppel has been named ACC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Monday, Nov. 11. In the 2-0 week, Knueppel averaged 18.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per contest, while shooting 56.5% from the field and 50.0% behind the arc.
In his collegiate debut, Knueppel scored a game-high 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the field, including 3-of-8 from three-point range, and 3-of-3 from the free-throw line, while adding four rebounds, two assists and a steal versus Maine.
Against Army, he once again topped the Blue Devils in scoring with 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the floor, including 4-of-6 from long distance, while also contributing two boards, two assists and a steal.
Over the last 11 seasons (since the start of 2013-14), Duke has had an ACC Rookie of the Week in 86 of a possible 187 weeks (45.9%). Twenty-five different Blue Devils have won the award at least once in that time.
No. 6 Duke returns to the court on Tuesday, Nov. 12, taking on No. 19 Kentucky in the Champions Classic. The Blue Devils and Wildcats meet for the fifth time in the event, tipping off at 9 p.m. inside State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Ga. The top-20 matchup will be broadcast on ESPN.
