Blue Devils Claim 11 Wins at Wake Forest Invite

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Duke started off the Wake Forest Invite by claiming 11 victories Friday. With two rounds of doubles action and one of singles during the opening day, the Blue Devils picked up five doubles wins and six singles triumphs. Â
The Duke doubles pair of Connor Krug and Jake Krug registered two wins in the A1 Bracket to advance to the flight championship Saturday. Teddy Truwit and Remy Dugardin won their opening round match before falling in the semifinals of the A3 Bracket. The two will compete for third place Saturday.Â
In the opening round of singles, Gerard Planelles Ripoll, the three seed in the A2 Bracket, came back to defeat Clemson's Romain Gales (Clemson) 1-6, 7-6 (5), 6-4. Theo Winegar and Dugardin also picked up wins as part of a Blue Devil sweep in the first round of the A2 Bracket. Fourth-seeded  Saahith Jayaraman and Oscar Brown remained in the winners bracket in the A3 Bracket, as did Truwit in the A1 Bracket.

The Blue Devils are back in action Saturday for one round of doubles starting at 9 a.m. with two rounds of singles to follow.Â
