CARY, N.C. – Duke women's tennis junior
Ellie Coleman advanced on day one of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American, which was contested at the Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C.
Opening in pre-qualifying action, Coleman registered a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 victory over Wisconsin's Alina Mukhortova in the opening round. Â
In other Blue Devil action, Duke graduate students
Brianna Shvets and
Iuliia Bryzgalova both dropped their matches. Shvets fell, 6-3, 3-6, 4-6, to Arizona's Reece Carter and Bryzgalova fell, 4-6, 1-6, to Emma Charney of Southern California. Blue Devil sophomore
Katie Codd couldn't get past Guichard Ahmani of UCLA, 4-6, 2-6, and senior
Karolina Berankova fell, 3-6, 4-6, to Anna Supapitch Kuearum of Iowa State. Â
Coleman, who hails from Midland, Mich., will next face Ava Catanzarite of Oklahoma in the round of 64 on Monday. Â
