DURHAM – Fans will be able to get their first glimpse of the 2023 Duke women's soccer team on Monday, Aug. 7 as the Blue Devils host Wake Forest at 7 p.m., in an exhibition match inside Koskinen Stadium. Admission will be free.
Earlier this week, Duke was tabbed No. 4 overall in the preseason United Soccer Coaches poll marking the second straight season and eighth time in school history the Blue Devils have been preseason ranked in the top-five. Â
Wake Forest returns 10-of-11 starters from a season ago under the direction of head coach Tony da Luz. The Demon Deacons are coming off a 9-7-3 ledger and advancing to the NCAA Tournament. Wake Forest will be one of the most experienced teams in the nation in 2023 as the Demon Deacons return 32 players and 85.1 percent of their goal production from last season. Duke brings back five starters and 15 letterwinners, while welcoming 11 newcomers in 2023 under head coach

Phoebe Goldthwaite will face her sister, Baylor, who is a sophomore for Wake Forest. The duo is from Durham, N.C., and went to school at Durham Academy.Â
Following the match with Wake Forest, the Blue Devils travel to 12th-ranked South Carolina to close exhibition play on Thursday, Aug. 10 at 5 p.m. Duke opens the 2023 regular season at home Thursday, Aug. 17 at 7 p.m., versus West Virginia.
