DURHAM – The 2023-24 edition of Duke women's golf will be a special one as the Blue Devils' compete in the 50th overall season in Durham, while head coach
Dan Brooks embarks on his 40th season leading Duke women's golf.
One of the winningest programs in NCAA history, the Blue Devils have risen to new heights under the direction of Brooks, winning an NCAA-record seven NCAA Championships, 21 ACC Championships and a NCAA-record 141 team wins.
At least one Duke golfer has been tabbed a first, second, third or honorable mention All-American each year since the 1991-92 season. A Duke golfer has earned National Player of the Year accolades a total of 12 times, while four have won the NCAA Individual Championship, 21 have won ACC Individual titles and three have won the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship.
Over the 49 seasons of women's golf at Duke, the Blue Devils have won seven NCAA Championships, 22 ACC Championships, registered 151 team wins and 115 individual victories under the direction of head coaches Jane Lloyd, Ron Schmid and Brooks.
Brooks and the Blue Devils are primed for another solid season in 2023-24 with the return of four starters –
Phoebe Brinker,
Anne Chen,
Andie Smith and
Rylie Heflin – along with the addition of two of the top amateur golfers in the nation –
Emma McMyler and
Katie Li. Both McMyler and Li have already turned in impressive wins over the summer with victories at the Women's Southern Amateur Championship and the AJGA Polo Golf Junior Classic, respectively.
The 2023-24 schedule Brooks has compiled will once again challenge the Blue Devils against the top teams nationally.
The Blue Devils open the season at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate, which will be contested at the Royal Golf Club in Lake Elmo, Minn., Sept. 11-13. The event welcomes the top teams in the nation with Baylor, Duke, Florida State, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Oregon, San Jose State, South Carolina, Texas, Texas A&M, Virginia and Wake Forest comprising the field.
Next up for Duke will be the Windy City Collegiate Classic Oct. 2-3 in Chicago, Ill., at the Glen View Club. It marks the seventh straight year the Blue Devils have competed in the tournament hosted by Northwestern.
For the second consecutive season, Duke received an invite to compete in the Jackson T. Stephens Cup, which will be aired by the Golf Channel Oct. 9-11 at the Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas, Texas. Along with the Blue Devils seeing action will be Arkansas, South Carolina, Stanford, Texas, Texas A&M and Wake Forest.
Duke closes the fall at the Landfall Tradition Oct. 27-29, which will be played at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C. It marks the 10th time the Blue Devils have participated in the event and have taken home the title on three occasions (2018, 2017, 2015).
The Blue Devils open the spring portion of the season Feb. 18-20 at the Moon Golf Invitational in Melbourne, Fla., at the Suntree Country Club. In March, Duke competes in the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate (March 4-6), Florida State Match Up (March 15-17) and the South Carolina Match Play (March 25-26).
It marks the 10th time Duke has competed in the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate, with the Blue Devils taking home the title in 2014 and 2015.
The ACC Championship will be contested at Porters Neck Country Club in Wilmington, N.C., April 18-21.
NCAA Regional action will take place May 6-8 at six different sites -- Auburn, Ala., College Station, Texas, Las Vegas, Nev., Winston-Salem, N.C., Ce Elum, Wash., and East Lansing, Mich. The NCAA Championship moves to Carlsbad, Calif., at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa from May 17-22.
