DURHAM – Duke men's soccer sophomore
Kenan Hot has been named the 2023 National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) Young Player of the Season, as announced by TopDrawerSoccer.com (TDS) and the NPSL.
"I think that the NPSL is a great league, especially with our team, we've got a lot of great players," Hot said. "I've said it before. There are players from top conferences like ACC, the Big East, Big Ten. Playing at that level is only going to help you."
Hot made a total of 10 appearances for Jackson Lions FC, starting in all 10, playing a total of 900 minutes. The standout midfielder scored two goals while also tallying seven assists during the 2023 season, as the club finished the season with a 6-3-1 overall record.
"It's no surprise to see
Kenan Hot earn this accomplishment after his excellent debut season at Duke last fall," TopDrawerSoccer.com Director of Content Travis Clark said. "His future is bright as he continues to perform at a high level for Jackson Lions this summer, especially when considering his extensive experience in the NPSL."
A midfielder for the Blue Devils, Hot enters his sophomore season after a freshman campaign that saw the Lincroft, N.J., native secure several postseason accolades. Named to the ACC All-Freshman Team, Hot also earned First Team Freshman Best XI from TDS, All-Freshman Third Team by College Soccer News and ended the 2022 year ranked No. 2 on the TDS Postseason Freshman Top-100.
"Kenny Hot is a very good player for Duke," said Duke head coach
John Kerr. "He reads the game exceptionally well and orchestrates our midfield in possession. He is very ambitious and is always looking for ways to get better. We love having him in our program!"
Hot joins current MLS standout Ben Bender (2021) and current Louisville Cardinals defender Josh Jones (2022) as the most recent winners of the NPSL Young Player of the Season award.
