Alex Mooney were named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region teams on Wednesday morning, as voted on by members of the America Baseball Coaches Association.
Tallon was named to the first team Atlantic All-Region as a relief pitcher, while Mooney was selected as a shortstop on the second team.
Tallon, a 6-foot-5 left-handed pitcher, has been the Blue Devils' closer this season, breaking the single season saves record on Friday afternoon in Charlottesville, Va., recording his 12th save of the season. In his 23 appearances this season, Tallon posted a 1.64 ERA and allowed just six earned runs to score. He fanned 54 batters to just 11 walks and opponents hit .185 off the lefty.
Mooney, a 6-foot-1 infielder, started all 63 games that the Blue Devils played this season, while being a vocal and emotional leader at the top of the order for Duke. Mooney finished the 2023 campaign with a .315 average at the plate, recording 80 hits, 20 doubles, two triples and eight home runs. The Rochester Hills, Mich., native added 21 stolen bases this season, while scoring a team-leading 68 runs.
