Five Blue Devils Listed in Final ITA Rankings

DURHAM – The final Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings for the 2022-23 campaign were released Wednesday by the organization. Â
A total of five Blue Devils were listed in the rankings led by senior Chloe Beck at No. 7 in singles. Other Duke standouts in the singles ledger were sophomore Emma Jackson (48), senior Georgia Drummy (53) and graduate student Cameron Morra (79).
The doubles tandems of Beck and Ellie Coleman (46) along with Beck and Morra (54) were ranked as well.
The final ranking for Beck at No. 7 marked the highest final ledger for a Blue Devil since Samantha Harris was No. 7 in 2018. Beck has now been ranked in the top-10 of the final ITA rankings each of the last two seasons as she was No. 8 a year ago. Â
A native of Watkinsville, Ga., Beck was impressive again this season turning in a 33-5 singles and 30-5 doubles mark in 2022-23. She became the fourth Blue Devil to collect 30 or more singles and doubles wins in a season, while registering back-to-back 33-win campaigns. She received an invitation to compete in the NCAA Singles Championship for the second consecutive season and advanced to the round of 16.
Jackson compiled a 22-12 overall and 7-4 singles ledger in her second year with the Blue Devils. A product of La Grange Park, Ill., Jackson went 13-5 at the No. 3 singles slot, which ranked as the tied for 14th-most wins in school history. She posted match-clinching wins against NCCU, Virginia Tech, Louisville, Syracuse and Boston College. Jackson was ranked as high as No. 21 nationally during the season.
In her final season with the Blue Devils, Drummy was limited due to injuries, but still registered a 13-7 singles and 6-0 ACC mark. She upended No. 2 overall seed Mary Stoiana of Texas A&M in the opening round of the NCAA Singles Championship to advance to the round of 32. Drummy, who is from Dublin, Ireland, posted three match-clinching wins and five victories against ranked opponents.
Morra, who hails from Rockville, Md., totaled a 19-15 singles ledger in her lone season with the Blue Devils. She posted six wins against ranked opponents and earned ACC Player of the Week accolades following victories over VCU and Wisconsin. Morra clinched the team win on the road at Clemson and also advanced to the ITA Fall Regionals final and notched a 4-1 record in the event.
The doubles duo of Beck and Coleman posted a 2-0 record on the season with wins versus seventh-ranked UCLA and 10th-ranked UCLA. The tandem of Beck and Morra was one of the top doubles teams in the nation for most of the season totaling a 28-5 overall and 15-2 dual match record at the No. 1 slot. The 28 wins ranked No. 8 on Duke's single-season record charts. Â
As a team, Duke finished the year ranked No. 11 nationally with a 23-5 overall and 11-2 ACC mark. Â
