DURHAM — Duke women's soccer program will welcome another standout recruiting class to the mix in 2023 as head coach Robbie Church and his staff landed the No. 6 overall class. During the spring, GoDuke.com has been spotlighting each of the eight newcomers.
The eighth and final incoming freshman that will be spotlighted is
Bianca Dominguez, a 5-6 product of Hercules, Calif. Dominguez attends Hercules High School and currently plays for the Bay Area Surf ECNL in Northern California. Dominguez also played for the Girls Academy League (2020-22) and prior to that competed for the Development Academy (2018-20) in Northern California. She also played ODP and PDP for Cal North prior to joining the Development Academy.
GoDuke.com: What made you choose Duke?
Bianca Dominguez: Duke was the right choice for me because of the coaches and team culture. I knew I would be challenged at the highest level as a student and athlete.
GD: Tell us about your soccer game and what you hope to bring to Duke?
BD: I am a very agile and aggressive goalkeeper and can play very well with my feet. I direct my teammates and do my best to be a leader on and off the field. I am hoping to bring these attributes with me to Duke.
GD: Favorite NWSL Player?
BD: Past: Hope Solo Present: Aubrey Kingsbury
GD: Most excited for at Duke (soccer and not soccer)?
BD: As a new member of the team, I am looking forward to getting to know my teammates and starting training. I am also excited to move across the country, move in, and begin classes at Duke.
GD: What is a fun fact/skill/talent people may not know about you?
BD: I love to read
GD: Who are your biggest inspirations on and off the pitch?
BD: My biggest inspiration on the pitch is Kobe Bryant and my biggest inspiration off the pitch is my father.
GD: What is your proudest moment on the soccer field so far?
BD: My proudest moment on the soccer field so far was the first game I played after suffering from a broken tibia for five months.
GD: At what age did you start playing soccer?
BD: I started playing soccer at four.
GD: Did you play other sports growing up?
BD: No
GD: I know it is early, but do you have any idea yet what you think you might want to major in?
BD: I am not sure exactly what I want to major in but I am hoping to eventually be on the pre-med track.
