THE OPENING TIP
- Duke rounds out November with its third and final road test of the non-conference slate, making the trip to the Peach State for a Thursday night showdown against Georgia on Thursday, Nov. 30 at 5 p.m. ET. Roy Philpott and Aja Ellison will call the game live on the SEC Network.
- The midweek contest is a part of the inaugural ACC/SEC Challenge, which gets underway Nov. 29 on the women's side.
- Duke and Georgia are meeting for the fifth time overall -- the Blue Devils holding a 4-0 record all-time, including a 26-point win (66-40) during the second round of the 2018 NCAA Tournament. All four of the previous matchups have been played on a neutral site.
- The Blue Devils completed the former B1G Ten/ACC Challenge with a 12-3 record -- the third best among teams from both conferences.
- In the 69 all-time meetings against SEC foes, 42 have gone the way of the Blue Devils.
- As a team, Duke currently ranks among the top-15 nationally in two categories this season -- blocks and offensive rebounding.
- The Blue Devils are No. 3 in blocks per game with an average of 7.8 and check in at No. 15 (17.0) in the NCAA in offensive boards.
- Duke has seen a balanced attack on the offensive end thus far as the team features four players averaging double figures -- Reigan Richardson (12.5), Ashlon Jackson (12.0), Taina Mair (11.5) and Oluchi Okananwa (10.5).
- The Blue Devils have provided assists on just under 50 percent of their field goals (49.7) with 90 dimes on 181 made buckets. Mair leads the team in the assist department with 3.5 per contest.
- On Sunday, Duke had five players finish in double figures and the team delivered a solid overall performance as the Blue Devils took care of business against NC Central, 93-45.
- Richardson paced the offensive efforts with 22 points on 7-for-12 shooting with three assists while Mair contributed 15 points, five rebounds and four dimes.
- Emma Koabel and Camilla Emsbo each chipped in 13 points and Delaney Thomas added in her first career double-double of 10 points and game-high 13 boards.
- Katie Abrahamson-Henderson is in her second season with Georgia after guiding the Lady Bulldogs to a 22-12 overall record and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament Second Round in 2022-23. She sports an overall career mark of 399-170 (.701) and has guided her respective clubs to 13 20-plus win seasons.
SUPERLATIVE SPOTLIGHT – DUKE LEADING EFFORT OFF THE BENCH ON OFFENSIVE GLASS, ON THE BREAK & IN THE PAINT
- Duke's reserves are providing a spark for the Blue Devils, boasting an average of 26.5 points per game. The Blue Devils have scored more bench points than their foes in all six games, totaling 155 points while opponents have put up just 66.
- In four of the six games, the Blue Devils have finished with a substantial margin in bench production -- 34-15 (Richmond), 24-6 (Coastal Carolina), 28-5 (at Stanford) and 33-11 (NC Central).
- Duke has received strong production on the offensive glass this season producing 17.0 offensive rebounds per game -- No. 1 in the ACC and 15th nationally -- while tallying 20 more o-boards overall (102-82).
- The Blue Devils have parlayed those extra possessions into 92 second chance points, 40 points better than its opponents (52). Duke has held the advantage in five of the six games, including sizeable margins against Richmond (18-5) and Coastal Carolina (20-2).
- On the fastbreak, the Blue Devils hold a 68-28 edge and have limited each opponent to fewer than eight points in transition.
- Duke has also commanded the inside through the first six games of the season, outscoring its foes 222-152.
- The Blue Devils average nearly 12 more points in the painted area per game than their opponents, 37.0 to 25.3, and have finished with double-digit margins in four games -- vs. Richmond (46-26), at Columbia (42-26), vs. Davidson (36-22), vs. NC Central (46-24).
A QUICK LOOK AT THE LADY BULLDOGS
- Georgia -- winners of four straight -- most recently defeated Purdue, 65-57, in the final game of the Baha Mar Pink Flamingo Championship in Nassau, Bahamas. Javyn Nicholson scored 18 points, including a dozen in the final period, to help lead Georgia to the win over the Boilermakers.
- The Lady Bulldogs are led offensively by Nicholson's 15.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. Joining her in double figures are Zoesha Smith (12.7) and De'Mauri Flournoy (10.3). Chloe Chapman paces the team in assists with nearly four helpers (3.8) off the bench.
- Katie Abrahamson-Henderson is in her second season with Georgia after guiding the Lady Bulldogs to a 22-12 overall record -- the most wins by the program in five seasons, as well as an NCAA Tournament win over a Power Five opponent (Florida State) -- the first since 2013.
SERIES HISTORY
- Duke and Georgia have played each other four times previously, each win going the way of the Blue Devils.
- The schools last met in the 2018 NCAA Second Round, which Duke won, 66-40.
- Thursday's game marks the first between the two institutions that neither team is ranked in the AP Top 25. It will also be the first game with a true home/road designation, as the first four matchups were played at neutral sites.
