Closing out the first month of the 2023-24 season, Duke travels to Arkansas for its inaugural game in the ACC/SEC Challenge on Wednesday night.

In the last conference challenge -- the ACC/B1G Challenge -- Duke owned the best record, by six wins, with a 20-4 ledger.
The matchup with Arkansas represents the third different power conference foe on Duke's non-conference schedule, having already played Arizona (Pac-12) and Michigan State (B1G). The Blue Devils round out their power-conference tour with Baylor (Big 12) in December.
The Blue Devils and Razorbacks have faced off four previous times, all on a neutral floor, with each team winning twice. Wednesday night marks the first meeting between the two programs in a team's home gym.
The Razorbacks have won nearly 82% of the time when playing at Bud Walton Arena, currently with a 422-95 record in the building.
Three of the four meetings have come in the NCAA Tournament -- including twice in the Final Four. The most recent matchup was in the 2022 Elite Eight, a 78-69 win by Duke. Current senior guard Jeremy Roachplayed 35 minutes in that game, scoring nine points.
Duke is coming off an 80-62 victory over Southern Indiana, capping off a 3-0 showing in the Blue Devil Challenge.
Kyle Filipowski led Duke's efforts against the Screaming Eagles, scoring 21 points while grabbing a season-high 14 rebounds -- including 10 on the defensive glass.
Layden Blocker, a freshman for the Razorbacks, attended Sunrise Christian Academy prior to college -- the same high school as Duke sophomore Mark Mitchell.
Arkansas head coach Eric Musselman is in his fifth season as head coach for Arkansas and currently holds a 99-45 record in Fayetteville and a 209-79 record as a collegiate coach.
Wednesday night will mark the first game against an SEC team for Duke on Nov. 29 -- the Blue Devils had played three games in the ACC/B1G challenge on this date.
Last Time Out
Duke used a 20-3 run, spanning the halftime break, to turn a 10-point deficit into an eight-point lead and never trailed again in an 80-62 victory over Southern Indiana on Friday night.
Jeremy Roach scored 16 second-half points and Kyle Filipowskisecured the first double-double of his season, with 21 points and 14 rebounds.
The Blue Devils finished with four in double-figures, as Tyrese Proctorand Jared McCainjoined their teammates with at least 10 points.
Proctor dished a game-high seven assists, his fourth game with at least five assists this season.
Duke out-rebounded the Screaming Eagles, 38-33. The Blue Devils are 5-0 when grabbing more boards than their opponent this season.
1st ACC/SEC Challenge; Fifth Meeting With Arkansas
The Blue Devils travel to an opposing arena for the first time this season, playing in the first ACC/SEC Challenge and playing at Arkansas for the first time in the all-time series with the program.
In the previous challenge, the ACC/B1G Challenge, Duke held the best overall record (20-4), six more than any other team.
Duke and Arkansas have played a total of four previous times, all on a neutral floor -- and three in the NCAA Tournament.
Two of the four matchups have come in the Final Four, with each team claiming a victory in the national semifinal. The Blue Devils won, 97-83, in 1990 and the Razorbacks prevailed, 76-72, in 1994.Â
Turning Defense Into Offense
Duke has held each of its opponents below their scoring average so far this season and has finished with an advantage on the glass in five of its first six games.
In each of the last three games, the Blue Devils have reeled in at least 38 rebounds.Â
Since being out-rebounded versus Arizona, the Blue Devils have averaged 40.3 boards across the last four contests.
On the offensive end of the floor across the last three games, Duke has valued the ball while averaging nearly 90 points per game and an eFG% of .570.
Sharing the Rock
Against Bucknell and La Salle, the Blue Devils finished with 23 and 21 assists, while committing just seven and five turnovers -- good for a total of 44 assists and just 12 turnovers and a 3.7 assist-turnover ratio.
Tyrese Proctorhas spearheaded the efforts, logging 21 assists with just three turnovers across the last three games. The sophomore guard has a total of 34 dimes and just seven turnovers through six games, a 4.86 assist-turnover ratio -- which is 16th best nationally overall and leads all underclassmen in the country with at least 30 assists.
The Blue Devils have scored over 90 points in two of their last three ballgames and have eclipsed the 90-point threshold three times in the first six games of the season.
Duke's Three-Point Streak
Duke has connected on at least one three-pointer in 1,195 straight games, the second-longest streak nationally.
It has been more than 30 years since Duke was held without a three-point field goal -- Dec. 30, 1989, versus Hawai'i.
