CARY, N.C. – The Duke women's tennis team closed action at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American Championships on Tuesday with junior
Emma Jackson collecting a pair of singles victories, including her 50th career victory, at the Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C.
A product of La Grange Park, Ill., Jackson opened the day with a straight-set victory over 49th-ranked Sofiya Chekhlystova of Penn State in the qualifying consolation bracket. The win was the 50th of Jackson's three-year career with the Blue Devils.
Jackson then faced Miami's 52nd-ranked Isabella Pfennig to close action. Pfennig came out hot winning the first set, 6-2, but Jackson rebounded to sweep the final two sets, 6-3, 6-2, to win the match.
After collecting an impressive victory Monday over 29th-ranked Nicole Khirin, 6-2, 7-6 (5), Duke freshman
Shavit Kimchi dropped her next match Tuesday in qualifying, 1-6, 1-6, to 110th-ranked Sophie Abrams of NC State.
Duke will next compete in the ITA Regionals Oct. 19-23 in Chapel Hill, N.C.
