DURHAM – This past week, the Duke women's soccer program held its annual "Pink Game" with proceeds going to the Duke Cancer Institute for breast cancer research.
After all was said and done, Duke raised $6,539 on Friday in the match against Clemson and over the last three years the Blue Devils have raised $15,564 for the Duke Cancer Institute.
Duke wore special pink jerseys for the match and held an online auction to sell the jerseys with all proceeds going to the Duke Cancer Institute. All 26 jerseys were auctioned off with a starting bid of $75 and the highest bid on a jersey was $500. The average bid per jersey was $252.
During the match, the Blue Devils recognized cancer fighters, survivors, caretakers and heath care providers.

Duke Cancer Institute brings together the world-class resources of Duke University, Duke Health and the Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center into a single collaborative powerhouse. They organized their flagship cancer center to assemble each patient's clinical team and treatment resources in a single building. With centers in North Durham and Wake County, they also provide Duke quality cancer care closer to home.
The Blue Devils will next travel to Blacksburg, Va., to face Virginia Tech Thursday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m.
